Deal: who needs midrangers when new Galaxy S9 hits a sub-$500 price on Amazon
What's a midranger these days? Well, if we go by the price, anything that's half the tag of today's $999 high-enders would certainly qualify. How about a sub-$500 price for last year's flagship of the world's largest cell phone maker?

That's the latest deal for the Galaxy S9 on Amazon, where you can now get the unlocked model, ready for any US carrier SIM card, for just $488. The compact, premium-built phone is still a very powerful device with dual-aperture camera, 10nm Snapdragon processor, and the newest Android 9 Pie with Samsung's one-hand-usage-friendly One UI.

What's more, it's not some "renewed" unit with generic accessories, but a fully-fledged unlocked model with valid US warranty, and that's a lot these days when it comes to affordable phones sold by Amazon.

Granted, there is no trendy dual camera set, and this price is only for the black model, but the blue and lilac ones are just a few dollars more, and still keep the price of this premium phone below $500, and, if you settle for the "renewed" offer, it can go below $400 even.

Just be because Samsung and apple are selling 900$ phones that doesn't mean 500$ is a midranger, OnePlus has the best hardware in the market, yet it costs 500$. It is a high-end phone that beats the s9 and iPhones in most day to day usage. Would you then consider it a mid range?

Who needs S9 with last year's chipset And limited camera experience when one can have brand new Xiaomi MI 9 for same price, with SD855 and 3 rear cameras? Maybe that is why S9 price fallen so low, there is no place on market for it even for such a low price when phones like MI 9 exist.

I prefer the S9 over the Xiaomi and Oneplus.

Pretty good deal for a solid phone. I paid the same price for a new S9 around this time last year, just open box with no accessories from eBay. Phone has served me well. No intentions of upgrading

Better value (and cheaper) than Pixel 3a XL at 64GB
