Fishy code names for Pixel handset sequels leaked?
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Google is planning to produce sequels to the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Both models proved to be popular, especially the 128GB Pixel XL which has faced a few delays since being launched. Today, the code names allegedly being used for the Google Pixel 2 and the Google Pixel XL 2 leaked. As usual with Google, these names are related to aquatic creatures. For example, the Pixel and Pixel XL were supposedly "marlin" and "sailfish."

According to the leak, the code name for the Google Pixel 2 is "walleye."  The code name for the Google Pixel XL 2 is "muskie." The latter is a large freshwater fish found in North America, while the former is also a freshwater fish found in Canada and the Northern U.S. We can tell you that "walleye" appeared on the AOSP website, revealing that Google has been testing the device.

Earlier this month, a report stated that Google plans on keeping the Pixel handsets as premium, high-end models. There also was talk that the sequels will feature an improved camera, a new chipset, and will carry an IP certification rating for protection from dust and water.  The current 12.3MP rear camera on the Pixel models feature a Sony sensor, an f/2.0 aperture and PDAF laser focusing. An 8MP front-facing camera adorns both phones. The Snapdragon 821 chipset that powers the pair could be replaced by the new top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 SoC.
