Developers completely redesigning the Mario spoof game that Apple banned from the App Store
A couple of weeks ago, developer Keybol was ready to push out its new game – Kill the Plumber – to both the App Store and the Play Store. The title is a sort of a reverse-platformer with puzzle elements, which spoofs the famous Mario character and puts the player in the role of the bad guys. Your mission, should you decide to shell out $2.99 for the game, will be to kill the annoyingly jumping plumber while avoiding the underside of his boots.

Apple did not agree with how much the game resembled good ol' Mario and completely barred it from getting to the App Store. Even though the game is clearly meant to be a parody, with all of its elements being exclusively made by its developers, Cupertino apparently didn't want to take risks with Nintendo's sense of humor (and who can blame them?). The final consensus was that the title needs a change of concept, from the way it looks to gameplay mechanics.

So, the developers have budged, and are currently in the process of redoing all the aesthetics – "from blocks, to the plumber, to new screenshots, and icon". The new plumber looks a bit more grungy and messy and the developers are saying they are working on a comic that is going to "explain the change in a humorous way, and not bringing bad light to any party".

Hopefully, this will be enough to give the game a green light on the App Store. And, while it may lose some of its parody flair, it still is a fun platformer / puzzler to burn some hours with. You can still check out Kill the Plumber in the Google Play Store, linked below. Do you like it? Do you intend to get it if it lands on iOS?
