Chinese programmer proposes to girlfriend with 99 iPhones, gets to keep them
It's Singles' Day alright! The Chinese holiday, which is celebrated each Nov. 11, became the occasion for a young and enamored computer programmer to pop the question to his girlfriend. In the hopes of her bending to his will, he came up with an elaborate setup consisting of ninety nine (99) iPhone 6 units arranged on the ground in the pattern of a heart. Reportedly, their total price amounts to nearly $82,000! Which is also the programmer's full two years' worth of salary, by the way.
Alas, not only is the lovestruck programmer getting, like, totally ripped off compared to Silicon Valley compensation standards, but the girlfriend said "nono" and broke his heart. Looking at the bright side of things, at least those iPhones are his to sell, and $82,000 (about 500,000 CNY) should get him pretty far in terms of post-breakup partying.
