Check out the latest HTC Nexus Sailfish renders and specs

As you probably know by now, HTC is building the 2016 Nexus handsets. The code name of the premium model is called the Nexus Marlin. The mid-range unit is code named the Nexus Sailfish. Renders of the latter device were discovered today on the website of Techconfigurations. The latest rumored specs of the handset include a 5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. A quad-core 2.0GHz CPU is under the hood. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of native storage.

We expect the Sailfish to carry a 12MP camera in back, with an 8MP selfie snapper in front. A fingerprint scanner also adorns the back of the unit; placed under the camera, it works by using a swiping gesture. Keeping the lights on is a 2770mAh battery, and a Type-C USB port can be found on the bottom of the phone. Android 7.0 is pre-installed.

The 2016 Nexus handsets could be released some time next month, or in October. The model is expected to be available in Silver, Black and Gold. Check out the renders of the HTC Nexus Sailfish by clicking on the slideshow below.

Sexy? That is a joke, friggin HTC messed it up again. Horrible iPhone 4 era antenna bands all over the phone with a giant black plate on the back? Well hopefully it looks better than these renders because these are hideous.

I'm hoping DayDream has different levels e.g. Top: 1440p+, 90Hz+, Adaptive-Sync, HDR ready High: 1440p+, 90Hz+, Adaptive-Sync Med: 1440p+, 60Hz Entry: 1080p, 60Hz

I personally could care less about day dream because I own a Oculus Rift already. Heck, I even have a S7 with gear VR. All I want is 1080p screen with fast processor, 4GB of ram and stock android. I've owned 4 qHD phones so far and other than VR there's no other reason to buy into the hype.

Way too small battery and internal storage (no micro sd).

For a 5 inch FHD display, 2770 mAh is not bad at all

I find it strange that there's been no concrete leak of nexus devices till now. Especially the nexus marlin, unlike the leak fest that was the nexus 5 and nexus 6p. The nexus 5, iphone 7, and the galaxy s7 have probably being the most leaked devices of all time. On a side note, I'm really liking the sailfish design. It really looks original and there's just something that's Quite mysterious about it tbh

Why not use SD625 with the 5" FHD screen and revive the Nexus 4 days when Nexus meant great phone for lower midrange price? Stupid move using the expensive SD820 in this.

Trust me, Nexus series only use the high-end processor like iPhone to show the perfect match for Google phones and suitable for application developer. Or you can try to buy Android One, it also can receive latest Android version at the first time with Nexus phone.

Don't anger me with Android One. It is the perfect example of how Google can fumble a huge opportunity it has on its hands. It has been restricted to India and SE Asia for years now, even though it would have been a gold mine everywhere in the world except for Monaco maybe. Yet they cannot sort their partners out worldwied, so they let this sink. Nicely done Google.

Totally agree with you. The place of the fingerprint must be on front panel. It is most convenient place. How you will unlock your device if it is laying on the table?
