As you probably know by now, HTC is building the 2016 Nexus handsets. The code name of the premium model is called the Nexus Marlin. The mid-range unit is code named the Nexus Sailfish. Renders of the latter device were discovered today on the website of Techconfigurations. The latest rumored specs of the handset include a 5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. A quad-core 2.0GHz CPU is under the hood. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of native storage.

We expect the Sailfish to carry a 12MP camera in back, with an 8MP selfie snapper in front. A fingerprint scanner also adorns the back of the unit; placed under the camera, it works by using a swiping gesture. Keeping the lights on is a 2770mAh battery, and a Type-C USB port can be found on the bottom of the phone. Android 7.0 is pre-installed.

The 2016 Nexus handsets could be released some time next month, or in October. The model is expected to be available in Silver, Black and Gold. Check out the renders of the HTC Nexus Sailfish by clicking on the slideshow below.
