BBM now offers stickers based on Disney's Frozen

Fan of the Oscar winning feature film Frozen? The cartoon not only won the Academy Award for best animated feature, it also was the origin of the best original song, "Let it Go," sung by Broadway superstar Idina Menzel. The BBM Shop is now offering stickers based on Frozen. You can buy a pack of 24 for $1.99.

BlackBerry calls its stickers larger and more beautiful than emoticons, and users can include them in messages being sent to other BBM users. Besides Frozen, Disney fans can also purchase a pack of stickers based on Toy Story.

BlackBerry is trying to monetize the messaging app by adding the BBM shop, and by allowing companies to pay to sponsor discussion groups on BlackBerry Channels. In addition, BlackBerry CEO John Chen is trying to open up BBM to every platform. What the executive realized from Facebook's $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp, is that the more subscribers BBM has, the higher the value it has. We believe that Chen considers BBM a crown jewel inside the company, that could be sold or spun off if needed, to raise money.

This whole article is bullsh!t. On the picture it is clearly written "By Disney." So it is not BlackBerry who released this but it is Disney. At least it should read somewhere that Disney released Frozen based stickers in BBM shop.

BBM is a wonderfull messaging platform, unfortunately is not as good+popular as What's app, WeChat & LINE. I also wondering how many world leader or CIA/FBI agent or law firm user will buy this disney frozen sticker and sent it to their co-worker... seriously... I believe this is a sign that bb is loosing grip in the corporate and now the bb user is the low end.

BBM is the least popular compared those three. But has better function than Whatsapp and better/clean looking than the teenager-focus WeChat and Line. Plus I hate those adds Line keep pushing to its consumers. Adding more features is always good for any app. As long as it doesn't drag down the performance and too intrusive to its user. It's all preferences. BBM offers stickers for teens but also has BBM Channel, BBM Video and Screens sharing for businesses users. I'm liking where BBM is heading.

If only Blackberry understood that "cool for young kids" is not going to win the day for their company. Stickers that are cool for adults, well, that is another story :)
