BBM now offers stickers based on Disney's Frozen

Fan of the Oscar winningfeature film Frozen? The cartoon not only won the Academy Award for best animated feature, it also was the origin of the best original song, "Let it Go," sung by Broadway superstar Idina Menzel. The BBM Shop is now offering stickers based on Frozen. You can buy a pack of 24 for $1.99.

BlackBerry calls its stickers larger and more beautiful than emoticons, and users can include them in messages being sent to other BBM users. Besides Frozen, Disney fans can also purchase a pack of stickers based on Toy Story.

BlackBerry is trying to monetize the messaging app by adding the BBM shop, and by allowing companies to pay to sponsor discussion groups on BlackBerry Channels. In addition, BlackBerry CEO John Chen is trying to open up BBM to every platform. What the executive realized from Facebook's $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp, is that the more subscribers BBM has, the higher the value it has. We believe that Chen considers BBM a crown jewel inside the company, that could be sold or spun off if needed, to raise money.
