Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom price revealed

Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom price revealed
Announced last month alongside the ZenFone AR, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom is now ready to be released around the world.

As of this week, the new handset is available to buy in Taiwan (Asus' home country), and is expected to arrive in other markets starting later this month.

In Taiwan, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is sold unlocked for 14,990 TWD - the equivalent of around $489 USD. When (and if) the smartphone is launched in the US, it will likely be offered for about the same price. Update: Asus actually says that the smartphone is "scheduled to arrive in North America in Q1 for $399."

One of the most important features of the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom is its dual 12 MP rear camera with 2.3x optical zoom, Dual Pixel autofocus, and 4K video recording. The handset further packs a very generous 5000 mAh battery, up to 128 GB of expandable storage space, and 4 GB of RAM. Other features include a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, rear fingerprint scanner, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, and a 13 MP front-facing camera. The new ZenFone currently runs Android 6 Marshmallow, but it should be updated to Android 7 Nougat in the coming months. You can take a closer look at the phone by checking out our ZenFone 3 Zoom hands-on.

Would you be willing to pay $399 for an unlocked Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom?

Best for you maybe, but not best for everyone. Also, there's more to a phone than just benchmark scores.

Like what? Show me a flagship phone out there that is faster and has longer battery life than Le Pro 3? UI? Of course you can always replace the launcher with your favorite or install custom ROM just like any Android phone out there. More like water resistant? =D More like IR Blaster? =D More like stereo speakers? More like CDLA earphones that is even better than most wired earphones out there? More like sub-$400 price? Even cheaper than over-hyped OP3T?

What about availability? What about aftermarket support? What about the Developer community? What if I don't like it's design? What if I want a card slot? What if I want a more compact phone? What if a 3.5mm jack is a big deal for me? There are many factors on judging whether a phone is "best" for you or not, I'm not saying the Le Eco 3 is not good, my point is you are talking like it is the best for everyone, while completely dismissing other factors.

If the camera is comparable to my s7 edge I'm thinking of selling it and getting this. If the moto z play is anything to go by the battery life should be incredible with the snapdragon 625.

Considering the competition, this strikes me as about $100 too high.

Ignore the false price being discussed. This phone is set for a $399 USD price unless there was some last minute changes, which I highly doubt.

I don't necessarily think so. When you think about the focus on how much they developed the camera from software to hardware, then the massive battery with the power efficient Snapdragon 625 processor. I think for the price with the features, it's a win.

On myZen by ASUS, which ASUS reposted on their North American Facebook page they specifically quoted it as $399 for North America Link: Direct Quote: "Coming soon to North America The ZenFone 3 Zoom comes in Glacier Silver and Navy Black. It’s scheduled to arrive in North America in Q1 for $399, and you can expect hands-on impressions soon. For pricing and availability in other regions, please contact your local ASUS representative."

How can a reputable site be so irresponsible? This phone is going to retail for $399 USD. Only an extreme tech novice would write an article source a price in Taiwan dollars, covert to USD and then base an article on the converted price. Complete irresponsible internet journalism. It's not credible enough to even call journalism.

It is too high for a Snapdragon 625 phone. The dual camera Honor 6x and dual camera ZTE Blade V8 Pro Snapdragon 625 phones are $250 and $230 respectively. Admittedly the Zenphone 3 Zoom claims a much better camera, but if they wanted into flagship prices (because Samsung et al no longer define the low end of that range) they needed to go with a SD820 or 821. And Quad HD, what's with HD at that price? No VR for you. If they go over $300 they will likely wind up in the worst of all world - the mushy middle where there is not a enough for the higher price and not a low enough price to keep people from going up just a bit more. Asus has to realize that the camera advantage will not last long in this market and then they have just another mid to lower end camera. As for the battery, we will see. But other than avoiding a battery hog, does anyone buy a phone for battery capability? Don't think so or they would all still be removable, sigh. The specs if true carry a really grim story for the US market - no band 12. Band 12 is the one with range and penetrating power. What were they thinking - just trying to recycle a "world phone" radio and hoping nobody noticed?

Zenfone 3 Zoom is now being sold on Amazon for $537.91. I would pay $399 for this phone but no way would I pay $500+ for this phone.

That's fact that it's an international variant maybe be part of the reason. Additionally it's sold by a third-party seller, Quality Deals Shopping Center "Quality Deals (QD) was founded in 2010 by Peter, an undergraduate student in the University Of Wollongong, Australia." So this seller could be overcharging to get a profit. Especially when you factor in again, this is not even the U.S./North American variant, it's the international variant. If you have a service called Honey installed on your browser (Google Chrome for me), you'd also see that the price has fluctuated between $400 ($460)-$680 over the past few days. Yesterday it was $406 and some change. Actually just researched, that's because it's 3 different models on Amazon. One is available w/ Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping for $406.45, factor unlocked. entitled "ASUS ZE553KL-S625-4G64G-BK - Factory Unlocked Phone, 0.5- Navy Black"
