The iPhone SE 2 could escape Samsung's display monopoly
It ain't an official Apple supply chain rumor until Korean media reports it, as their fellow countrymen from Samsung and LG are providing the bulk of iPhone displays. Thus, when the words "screen" and "budget iPhone" come together in a Korean publication, we are all ears. If you recall, there is nothing budget-er than the iPhone SE, and we've been waiting on a successor for a long time.

As if to add more water to the iPhone SE 2 rumor mill, today's publication is pegging LG as the LCD display supplier for Apple's upcoming budget king. Given its dependence on Samsung for everything iPhone and display related, the move to LG for a phone that will likely sell in the tens of millions given the rumored $399 price, is a smart one.

The deal isn't entirely done yet, apparently, as LG scoffed at being the main provider for budget iPhone displays, but given that the customer is Apple, with all the economies of scale involved, it is likely to reconsider. 

According to one industry insider, LG is perfectly aware that the golden days of high-end iPhone LCD panel supplies are over, so the iPhone SE 2 screen should suffice:
