Android 7.1.1 Nougat factory images and OTA files for Pixel and Nexus devices up for grabs

7comments

Google has just published the Android 7.1.1 Nougat factory images and OTA files for a couple of Nexus and Pixel devices. If you don't own a Pixel or Pixel XL smartphone, you will get some of the features that were only available for these devices since they were launched with Android 7.1 Nougat right out of the box.

Anyway, the factory images and OTA files can be downloaded for the following devices: Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P (all carriers except Verizon), Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Nexus 9 LTE, and Nexus Player.

It's also worth noting that Verizon has already published the official changelog for Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Pixel and Pixel XL. Apart from the usual new features, Verizon will add some fixes and improvements of its own.

The changelog also mention the update brings the latest Android security patches, which could mean that Android 7.1.1 Nougat adds either the November or December security patch.

It's unclear when exactly the update will be rolled out to Nexus and Pixel devices, but since Verizon is expected to start the deployment today, there's a high chance that the rest of the phones and tablets will be getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat beginning today as well.
