Android 4.4 KitKat website will have a countdown timer
Just in case you're not swayed by some far-reaching rumor grabs when it comes to when we should expect the announcement for Android 4.4 KitKat and the new Nexus 5, it looks like Google will have an official countdown timer going at some point in order to let you know exactly when things are happening. Earlier today, we heard a rumor which pointed to October 28th (if you followed some tenuous teaser links), but really that isn't anything but an unverified rumor.

However, in the realm of fact, it turns out that the Android 4.4 KitKat website has code in it for a countdown timer. The KitKat website references a JavaScript file named kitkat.min.js. And, in that JavaScript file is the code for a countdown timer. Some have claimed that the code points to October 28th, but that is not true. The timer isn't pointing to any date just yet, but it would be easy enough for Google to add a date to the code and get the timer started.

We're still confident that the announcement for the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 will happen before the end of the month though. It does look like Best Buy is even getting set up for a new Google handset. Now, it's just a matter of patience.
