Amazon U.K. and Amazon France halt sales of the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL
Amazon U.K. and Amazon France have put a halt to sales of the black Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. A message that appears on both sites says that Amazon customers have told the retailer that there might be a problem with its inventory of the device. Amazon says that the Lumia XL is still available from other sellers on Amazon.

Amazon Germany pulled the phone from its site recently, and Carphone Warehouse had to delay its pre-order period for the handset. There is some speculation that units are being sent back to Microsoft to be updated to the latest OS and firmware, which will resolve some issues that the phone is having.

You can wait for the latest OS and firmware versions to be sent to your Lumia 950 XL OTA, or you can use the Windows Device Recovery Tool to flash the latest versions on your phone. The latest firmware brings some improvements including the ability of the phone to download and install international keyboards. The update will also bring improvements in Windows Hello, which allows the iris scanner to unlock your handset with just a glance on your part, and increases battery life.

The update also makes the Glance screen better, and improves the "Hey Cortana" voice activation for the virtual assistant. If the sales halt was done merely to update Lumia 950 XL stock, it shouldn't be terribly long before the phone is once again available.

The phone is a glitchy disaster. That's why sales are stopping like this. And the return rates are not considered tolerable by Amazon, etc.

Don't worry everyone. I don't work for Microsoft, but I believe they're installing the new software that fix several bugs. Hence the delay from even Microsoft themselves.

We had many many conplaints of the 6s/+ during its launch. iOS had enough bugs that within a few weeks there was something like 4 updates to fix it. Problem is Apple gets a pass MS doesn't. Hell iOS 9 was so bad Apple even had a roll back tool for older devices. This only proves what kind of nut hugs people give Apple. And this is coming from someone who defends apple a ton on here. For the record I work for a carrier.

Did you try to load your backed-up settings from an old, non-windows-10-native device? If so you should probably recover the phone and don't load a backup. I have a 950 and I haven't had any issues, I didn't use a backup.

And there are more issues.the list goes on and on and I was a Microsoft fan.

What are the issues? I think the list includes: some retailers having trouble keeping it in stock (people speculate this is due to phone problems but that's not confirmed), and an OS that is unstable, but still more stable than many Android and iOS phones.

I honestly wish they got their act right fix all these issues and restored my faith in Microsoft which I sincerely doubt I'm now in the process of returning the phone and buying a samsung galaxy note 5.

If you do move to android, you might wanna consider the 6P instead.

I wanted to go from note 2 to 1520 some time ago, but note 2 still beats it in versatillity and overall performance/user expirience - therefore my 1520 awaits for bug free wp10 in the drawer. Hoping for 6.0'' s7 or z5 ultra. Samsung devices never really dissapointed me. Apple, Nokia/Microsoft always did. I love freedom.

1520 currently on w10, only thing note has is apps (not big for me) and penusage, performance...subjective and a big no in the camera. Had a note 3 that was a nightmare, 5 in a year. Which sucked cause I had good samsungs before. However, where I work, either product of its success or failure, the most common exchanged phone is Samsung.

Hi elitewolverine I'm send I'm back the 950 xl for it to be checked and replaced if need be was going to get a samsung but I'm inclined to give it another shot to see if it's fixable with an update it's a good phone but the bugs have been horrendous.if it's fixed I'm keeping it.

The picture with this article is a Lumia 950, whereas the subject of the article seems to be the 950 XL.
