Alleged iPhone 5 chassis leaks on video

Alleged iPhone 5 chassis leaks on video
Soon after a very compelling leak of a puported iPhone 5 chassis assembly leaked the other day, now we have a video of someone who handles this assembled iPhone 5 housing from iLab Factory on video as well.

The housing video was shot by the Apple-centric Japanese blog Macotakara, which often leaks iGadget info prematurely, and the shape and design jibe with all we've seen and heard so far about what will the next iPhone look like. There are also some alleged parts for the new iPhone packaged, like black and white home keys and some ICs, so the whole hands-on looks quite legit.

We hadn't seen how it lies and looks in the hand, save for some concept 3D renders, but now we have the hands-on part as well, all that is left is for Apple to announce the doohickey, so we can compare the final design with the leaks so far.

Well since the PA staff doesn't appreciate funny sarcasm, I'll restate my earlier post: This looks way too much like an iPhone 4\4S. Remember iPhone 4S? People were very disappointed that the 4S looked exactly like the iPhone 4. This looks like an elongated iPhone 4, minus glass back which makes it look much less pretty, plus awkward position of the 3.5mm jack and a fancy new dock connector. Revolutionary? Amazing? Magical? Nope.

Let's be honest you wouldn't like the new iPhone regardless of its design.

4. ilia1986 unregistered

I actually like the iPhone 4 design. If they found a way to make the back look like glass - but be made from something much more sturdier - it would have been better. When it comes to external product design - few do better than Apple. Everyone's gotta admit that. This however looks a lot like iPhone 2G - the very first iPhone.

No matter what they gonna bring in the market this year. It would be a super flop. And Taco you don't even own an Apple device mate why are you everywhere?

You are right, the underwhelming factor of this phone is iOS6.

I think this design looks better than before. The only thing is... is Apple going to be sued by HTC for copying? If they don't, then HTC is too nice...

It's not a bad design, but the iphone 4/4s's design is much more appealing. Maybe they should make a unibody aluminium design, that would really rock.

To be honest, even though this phone does look pretty damn nice, I still hope that this isn't it. But I don't really understand you're whole "Revolutionary? Amazing? Magical? Nope" statement. Even IF this is the actual design, which I highly doubt, we can pretty much be sure that its ahead of all other smartphones in terms of build quality and design. This design still has the potential to be the best in today's market. What can beat it? HTC One X? Samsung Galaxy SIII? Nexus Galaxy? I really don't think so. Until there's something out that's better, you can't really complain.

"we can pretty much be sure that its ahead of all other smartphones in terms of build quality and design." What exactly makes you think so? The iPhone 4 design was unique since it had glass on it's back. Not so here. So what makes you think that this thing is better than anything that's out there already?

You're right, this picture show that this designs has no glass on its back, but we don't even know if its a bad thing yet. I actually looks really nice and might even feel good as well. Who knows! A glass back is not required to make a well-designed smartphone. Do you think the designs of any of the current devices are Revolutionary, Magical, or Amazing? cause it kinda seems like you do.

13. ilia1986 unregistered

Nope. Thing is, however - apart from Apple - no other company claims that their products are magical, amazing and revolutionary. If someone - especially an entire company decided to be arrogant - they will be proved wrong.

in that case your comments are pretty premature. You're basing this off Apple's future claims/advertising and we're not even sure this design belongs to Apple.

Well, judging from the leaks of the iPad 2, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, I'd say that this design is pretty much final.

If anything the glass back is what made the average user not like the iphone. Sure it looked great but everyone complained why is it glass. I rather have a phone that didnt shatter if i dropped it on my carpet

Personally, HTC has a winner with the design and construction of the EVO 4G LTE. Their biggest f*ck-up with the EVO 4G LTE was the Sprint exclusive.

lets be honest the xperia phones from sony can pretty go head to head with apple in terms of build quality and uniqueness..

Its certainly like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s situation where the differences are so little its almost irrevelant. Seeing as all the phones will run ios 6 (itself with minimum new features) its looking like the only real difference in external appearance in the 'new iPhone is a slightly stretched screen. That saying due to its Ifan base who will buy and support apple no matter what the product is and the fact that apples primary buyer base are teens looking to stay with whats 'cool' apple can easily release the same phone 3 times and it will be a success each time. Looking at apples point of view,if your buyer base is going to buy the product no matter what it makes economical sense for you not to exert anything more than minimal resources and effort into changing the product

Like the music to the video. Phone looks sexy, but still won't believe it until I see Tim Cook announcing it on stage.

The 'leak' fits what is being reported by just about everyone. In fact, I haven't heard any recent rumor that says the iPhone 5 will remain at the 3.5 inch screen size. Looks like the case is getting some kind of electro-plating as opposed to the iPhone 4/4S stainless band around the periphery of the unit. Apple has to do something to slow Sammy's sales juggernaut between now and September 21st, when the iPhone 5 is expected to be released. Expect more leaks. Maybe even another prototype getting 'lost' in a bar.

I must say that the back panel looks really premium and beautiful. But the same old front doesn't seem to match it at all.

I am glad to see the back isn't glossy anymore which is one of my main complaints about any phone. Reason why I got the White Galaxy S3, at least the finger prints don't show up as badly. Tho I always like black phones more so this new iPhone design if real, looks great. I just wish they made some bigger changes to IOS.
