6 things that could have made the Sony Xperia Z3 even better
The Sony Xperia Z3 is here and it's great, but... it somewhat lacks that "wow" factor that makes a certain electronic gadget stand out. Despite the deja vu in some areas, the Xperia Z3 is a decent upgrade over the Xperia Z2. Honestly, we didn't imagine that Sony will radically overhaul its Omni-Balance design, but that doesn't mean that the hardware specs should have been that similar to the ones of the Xperia Z2. We guess that this is the price Sony has to pay for adopting a 6-month "refresh" cycle.

"Never change a winning team", right? That's generally spot-on, but if you want to always keep your team in a winning streak, you have to boldly set yourself from the competition from time to time. We feel like there are certain key areas, in which the Xperia Z3 could have been a lot better than its predecessor. Thus, we decided to make a concise list for your eyes to feast upon, which comprises some notable features and improvements that could have made Sony's new flagship even better.

By the way, what's your opinion on the matter? What other improvements (different from the ones we've detailed below) could have made the Xperia Z3 better than it is? Drop a line or two in the comments section!

I think (hope) he means a laser focus for the camera.

For remote TV control, why the hell not. I have Z2 and G2. Trust me, I often use G2 as remote for TV. Sony has lots of TV's, it would be somewhat logical to enable xperias to remote control at least Sony TV's. Ok, it would be nice to have IR as camera focus assistant. That means two IR blasters... Reasons 3 and 6 are pure nonsense... Who needs QHD on a smartphone? Come on people... Also, 805? Where is the difference? In benchmarks? Screw that... I would rather take 200-300mAh more battery... And xenon's :-) Smaller bezels, that is valid and good point. Maybe even new design. Something Samsung did with Alpha... Change materials and curvature, maybe even return to arc style... Better front faced cam would also be nice... OIS, well that too.. BUT that stupid sensors... ... NO ONE needs that....!!

I don't agree with Quad HD, it's a waste! Instead of that give it 32GB in place of that sorry 16GB it comes with.

I agree. My expectations: USB 3.0, LTE-A, Dual SIM, IR Port, OIS Gorilla glass 4, 32 GB Storage, Swappable battery, Smaller bezels

Try google cardboard for VR - you'll understand why quad hd will be the future. Existing displays that are magnified with a virtual reality lens will be pixelated and you'll surely appreciate the extra pixels as I've seen it first hand. Imagine a cinematic experience to watch your movies with a cheap VR headset to complement your phone. This will be a hit in developing nations where large lcd tv's are cost prohibitive. It will also do well in areas where heat and humidity destroy lcd's and plasmas to the point that they are not worth investing in. Not to mention....all the college students who can now watch their pr0n in private....just sayin'

How about US availability! That would make it better, too. Sony just hates the US.

The most important things that the Z3 should have are the new design, new UI, SD805, IR blaster, OIS, more wow which the Z3 doesn't have many. To be honest, I'm not wowed at all.

How about bigger battery? Like 4000 mAh. I could spare a few mm in the thickness department for this.

Biometric sensors? Leave that to Samsung... Sony does not target nerds. As to the other points, I agree.

Sony Xperia Z3 google edition with 1080p is much much better version for battery and software wise. Hardware is nice but software is a downside. Unlike HTC sens 6 which is silky smooth.

I hope sony will keep this design language for a long time. The resale value of the older phones are staying higher. And i personally like this type of design as it matches the rest of the stuff in my house

Easily the best Sony Xperia to date. Outstanding design. The audio output will be better than the Z2. Better IP certification for water and dust proof than the Z2. 3100mAh battery matches the 3200 mAh battery of the Z2. Everything is equal on endurance. Stand by, talk time, video play time, music play time. Check it out onwww.sonymobile.com. Will be available on T-Mobile USA this coming Fall.

Agree with all. Z3 is such a disappointment. It seriously is...just a flop

Jesus, what a ridiculous article, PA. If you want to nitpick on this phone then at least try todo it seriously and honestly. #3 is actually an advantage, any day you wake up on your right foot. Did you wake up on your left today??? #5 doesn't really make any phone better, it just makes you look like a monkey (and as we know, there are monkeys who make better selfies than 99% of most humans) #6 is just a solution looking for a problem, and you are looking like fools when you say "some kind of biometric sensor", let's admit it, you don't even know exactly what you are demanding... Pointless content. A shame.

Stop trashing SONY, they are the only company besides Apple that creates quality devices. Yes G flex and Galaxy Edge are interesting, but for your personal use what will you take? And the 5.5 inch QHD's aren't for everyone too. SONY makes practical and beautiful devices, they signaled it with the Z1 compact. Practical.
