10 million Samsung Galaxy S4 units sold; new colors coming
Currently available in 110 countries, the Korean based manufacturer expects to eventually sell the Android flagship in 155 countries with 327 partners. The GALAXY S4 sets a new record for Samsung, generating sales quicker than any of its predecessors. Sales of the GALAXY S III reached the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch in 2012, while the GALAXY S II took five months and the GALAXY S seven months to reach the same milestone.
"On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung GALAXY S4. At Samsung we'll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people," said JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
The GALAXY S4 was developed to enhance the meaningful moments in our lives through its innovative features and superior hardware. It has the world's first Full HD Super AMOLED display that showcases images at their very best on a 5-inch screen with 441ppi. Equipped with a powerful rear 13MP camera, the GALAXY S4 also boasts a Dual Camera function that allows simultaneous use of both front and rear cameras. The GALAXY S4's new and innovative software features include Air View and Air Gesture for effortless tasks, while it also keeps users up-to-date with information about their health and wellbeing using S Health.
Samsung GALAXY S4 is available in more than 110 countries and will gradually be rolled out to a total of 155 countries in cooperation with 327 partners.
Samsung is planning to introduce more color variations to meet various consumer tastes and preferences. In addition to the currently available White Mist and Black Forest, new color iterations will be added this summer, including Blue Arctic and Red Aurora, followed by Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn.

Exactly ! who'd want to see chips and dents on their new Galaxy S4 oh wait.....
149. Mr.Verizon (Posts: 23; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
yes because we have never seen iphones being shipped with light leaks around the displays and yellow tinge when it should be white because of glue being improperly cured before being shipped to customers! note my extreme sarcasm here, everybody has issues with every launch, nobody is perfect even samsung and apple.

A lot or people choose brown tan wallets, bags and other accessories... it makes sense to bring out a leather-coloured variant. However, I'll pass judgement on its looks when it comes out .

For all those complaining about the galaxy phones made of plastic and not being premium, well the galaxy s4 actually has gorilla glass 3 while htc one has gorilla glass 2... another thing is on my galaxy s4 i bought a high quality aluminium battery cover for only $15 on ebay, now the front is gorilla glass 3 and the back is allumimum what else do i want? also i can easily change the back if it scratches unlike htc... samsungs the best and fk the rest
only octa core phone in the world!!! they listen to customers!!! fastest software updates!!!! top not batteries!!!! best displays!!! smoothest interface compared to laggy sony htc and lg etc... speacial and oh sooo helpful touchwiz features!!! load speakers even compared to htc one which isnt load just clear... endless features!!!

you sir, have apparently never heard of sarcasm.
36. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
Dear friend, sarcasm is what htc uses to trick people into buying their products like the boom sound feature is s**t!! id rather my galaxy s4 speakers more loader... samsung fans and users (majority of the world) dont rely on sarcasm
104. SleepingOz (unregistered)
I guess that's the reason why they're "quitely sinking". lol
16. Kurai (unregistered)
First of all, touchwiz does lag because of the useless bloatware that is infested within it . . . secondly, gorilla glass shatter easily(no matter what the gen is) unlike sony's shatterproof glass or asashi's dragon trail glass. . . thirdly, the octacore doesn't work simultaneously, it works more like a dual quadcore . . . fourthly, htc one's speaker is far more better than samsung's( there's also nokia's 925 if you want to compare more) . . . lastly s4 will only fell premuim if you buy a cover for it. . .
19. shadez10 (Posts: 402; Member since: 15 Jan 2012)
very true... octo-core is really just the same as normal quadcores...
but idk why those samsung fanboys doesnt get how those octo-cores work... they think all the 8 CPUs work together...
38. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
its octa core- not otco wtf??? must be using htc sence auto corect lol :P

Arms going to need 8 core a15 devices to keep up with intel in the tablet market later this year.
127. TROLL (banned) (Posts: 4851; Member since: 13 Apr 2012)
Arm still have there A57 SOC CPU TO BE ON PAR!
What are you talking about? The Exynos has 5 range of Cpus, which are:E5410 entry level, E5420 standard, E5430 above standard, E5440 performance, and finally E5450 which runs at 3.0Ghz. So it's either on par with Baytrail, or faster!
43. tashreef (Posts: 476; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
yesterday one of friend bought S4 from Dubai..and the funny part is he wasn't knowing S4 has Octa-core processor...LOL
65. WHoyton1 (Posts: 1619; Member since: 21 Feb 2013)
I'm sorry I've never heard ANY smartphones use asashi's glass.....I wonder why?!
95. vincelongman (Posts: 1152; Member since: 10 Feb 2013)
Well I haven't of much phones using sapphire screens, only those ridiculous Vertu phones, but thats because they cost too much, so maybe dragon trail glass costs more than gorilla glass 2/3, which is why not much phones have it yet.
100. Kurai (unregistered)
Xperia active used dragon trail . . . they run over wrangler jeep on it and even dropped a sledge hammer on it . . not even a scratch on the glass . . .
133. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Sony use a scratch-magnet plastic film to prevent the glass from shattering. Remove the film and see what happens.
There's also a guy, andrianisen, who smashed the XZ's screen using a plastic toilet brush. lol
18. tashreef (Posts: 476; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
you mean Touchwiz is better than sense 5.0?
in what sense? this non "Sense" comment makes no sense at all
50. Feanor (Posts: 304; Member since: 20 Jun 2012)
Adding an aluminium back cover and retaining the awful patterned front face doesn't improve the design, it just makes it more inconsistent and clownish. Learn something about design. The interface looks also still quite cheap. The GS4 may be the best in most aspects but still very hard to like and spend my hard earned money on...
55. SonyFindOneDroidple (Posts: 441; Member since: 11 May 2013)
I am an artist and always leaning towards simplicity.. Stunning is what gs4 is. Large screen with less bezels without unnecessary add-ons. Htc One is beautiful screen-off but screen-on, the fat bezels dwarfing the small screen stood awfully. Xperia ZL, Optimis G Pro, AND gs4 are the most beautiful devices for me..
74. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
hi there, i always loved design and done many art coarses, and yes thats exaclty what i love abour the s4!! less bezel!!! and i love the slight pattern on the front on the bezels, not over the top just balanced and its a symetrical looking phone which really attracts the eye unlike the htc one!!! thanks sonyfindonedroidple :)
116. Hemlocke (unregistered)
Your art does indeed sound "coarse." An aluminum battery cover on an S4 sounds like putting an evening gown on a hooker.
124. tedkord (Posts: 4735; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Sounds like someone's favorite movie is Pretty Woman.
57. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
You have to buy external accessories to make your phone look/feel good? I doubt the One will scratch very easily, a few reviewers that have used the phone daily for a while said it's held up very well; in the same time frame that they used the One, the iPhone 5 was practically ruined.
Octa core is a HUGE misunderstanding intentionally made by Samsung to sell more units. Everyone has gone over this countless times; ONLY FOUR CORES ARE ACTIVE AT A TIME. All eight cores are NEVER ON AT ONCE. But of course, you didn't listen to those explanations (ignorance is bliss I guess) or just were coincidentally not around when anyone ever explained it, in which case, you shouldn't be flaunting and talking about what you have no clue about.
They listen to customers? For the past year or so countless people have been asking them to make a high quality device made with something other than glossy, flimsy, and cheap polycarbonate; it's probably the biggest problem Samsung faces right now. Where is it?
That article says otherwise.
Top notch* batteries? My old GS2 had its battery worn out to the point where it lasted only half as long as it used to, within only a year of me having it. Meanwhile, my old MyTouch 4G and Sensation have held up with their battery life so far; I used the MyTouch when my S2's screen shattered and it served me well, and I gave my Sensation to my younger cousin and she hasn't complained about battery life at all.
Display quality is based on opinion really, I prefer S-LCD over S-AMOLED personally since I use my phone outside a lot, and LCD typically produces more light.
Smoothest interface? That's laughable. There are so many complaints about the GS4 being laggy and stuttering all over the interface, while the HTC One, Xperia Z, and Optimus G Pro all run without any stutter, even though the GS4's CPU and GPU are overclocked by a decent margin, and it uses DDR3 memory. Samsung just got over zealous with their half baked features and didn't bother to optimize anything, so that frequency bump and faster memory don't do anything for it.
The HTC One has THE loudest speakers I have ever heard on a smartphone. Not only is it loud, but it is also very clear, and the distance between the speakers are perfect to get true stereo sound. You can't even really compare it to anything else on a phone, because it's just unfair to the other.
You mean the Touchwiz features that you barely use half of? And the majority of that other half only works in perfect conditions, otherwise they're useless? Yup, those are just "oh sooo helpful!"
I spent WAY too much time typing this whole thing out. I'm going to bed.
63. WHoyton1 (Posts: 1619; Member since: 21 Feb 2013)
How long did it take you to write this?! I love how you take soooo much time just to hate a multinational company who has sold the fastest ever selling phone.....carry on trying to change people's minds....hey you may change one or two but there is 10million who would disagree....would you like me to write an essay on why the S4 is epic?!
71. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
It wasn't too much time, probably 30 minutes tops, closer to 20, but still way too much time for me to argue. It didn't seem like much time while I was typing because I practically write essays for a living.
You're pulling out the sales argument, like so many others. Go ahead and say that, because with that logic you're saying the iPhone is the best phone because it's the best selling phone, which is not true at all. It's all about marketing; without marketing, Samsung and Apple would be nothing.
I've already shot down pretty much every reason why the GS4 might be considered epic, so coming up with a rebuttal is pretty much useless. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a blind hater. I respect Samsung and their products, but there's nothing about them worth praising like a lot of people on this site do; the GS3 was worth the praise it got, but the GS4? Not even close.
75. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
im not going to bother replying to you its gonna take too long... hahaha shame you had to type for so long and its like junk!!! lol
78. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Everything I said was correct and effectively shot down any point you had. So, I don't think you could classify it as "junk."
It didn't take too long for me to type, I write essays for hours almost every day, it's natural for me at this point.
There are only a handful of times where I've lost an argument. This is not one of those times.
87. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
hahahahahaha... writing essays isnt that what people hate to do?jesus and you do it on a daily basis? well i own a multi million dollar property development bussiness in new zealand, i dont need to be at work, i just drive my beautiful mercedes s63 lorinser 2012 and go hotels and have fun all day!!! oh and i didnt go university and waste my time there!!! enjoy writing essays all day after going to uni lol, :P i need a new profile pic of me and my car!!! i just LOVE IT!!! LIMITED EDITION!!! WORTH $270,000 USD HAHAAHAHAHA WRITING ESSAYS THATS HILLARIOUS!!!
88. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I actually enjoy writing essays, because I know it's making me better at my work and shows my knowledge, something you seem to be lacking. I work hard to have a good life in the future, meanwhile you seem like a complete jackass who gets everything handed to him, or just a liar, in which case you're still a jackass.
90. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
Hahaha a liar? you must be jealous!!! i worked my ass of before i got to this stage, over 10 years of just working working and no no spening and had a s**t life, now that im in my early thirties i get what i deserve after all the hard work!!! now im living the luxury life!!! enjoying coming home to my mansion daily!!! and free time all day to talk to people like you lol haha sooooooo funny!!!! :P :P :P
97. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Jealous? No. A lot of people on the internet claim to be rich and successful, and flaunt it around when really they're some 12 year old kid on their mom's computer; and from how you're typing I have no reason to believe you're not one of those kids. You would think someone in their early 30's would at least know how to set up sentences correctly.
If what you say is true, good for you, you've earned it. There's no need to flaunt it around like you're better than everyone else though, learn something about humility.
99. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3011; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
Listen dude, i respect that you've worked hard for 10 years to 'reach' this point. I don't know if it's true, but i'll believe you. But you need to respect people who're working hard for their future too.
Now that you're up there, you look down on people?
That's the sign and trait of a hypocrite...i hope you're not.
Besides, he gave valid points.
Argue with counters if you must.
91. samsung4ever (Posts: 36; Member since: 20 Nov 2012)
yeah go to bed so you can wake up early for work lol, writing more essays of your sarcastic knowledge as i would like to call it!!!
98. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
It's not work actually, it's school. Honors English, AP Environmental Science, U.S Government, and Economics takes a lot of writing. It's not sarcastic knowledge, it's actual knowledge.
138. PapaSmurf (Posts: 8282; Member since: 14 May 2012)
So you're still in HS? Good luck with AP Lit. Get used to having to write essays everyday and three in 2 hours for the AP test.
140. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Yup, I'm in the end of my sophomore year.
I've already done a lot of essays in AP Enviro, I wrote about 4 pages of answers for the free response questions in the AP test in 90 minutes. What I'm really worried about is AP Calculus, which I'll probably be taking next year.
136. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
as for a guy who, as you claim, has been worked his ass of for the last ten years you behave like a typical douchebag and moron. You laughed at a guy who works as a "writer". And you do what? Are you a pimp in harlem?
Or just a 15 year-old kid who got to his older brother's computer. Show some respect toward the others because nobody insulted you. Ad hominem, that's what I've got to say about your attitude and the way you carry on a discussion. Showing off in a way you did is like yelling around that you have slept with more than 100 women, 99 of which were comfort women.
137. PapaSmurf (Posts: 8282; Member since: 14 May 2012)
I call BS on the battery life on the MyTouch and Sensation. The Sensation had the worst battery life I've ever used and the MyTouch barely gots 3 hours.
141. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4010; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I never said the battery was good, I said it held up. I get the same amount of battery life on them now as I did when I first got them, whereas my GS2 was degraded by nearly 50% within a year and needed a replacement. I was talking about battery consistency, not the initial longevity.
139. SPASE (Posts: 84; Member since: 03 May 2013)
I got the black brushed aluminium battery door for $19.
it looks friggin awesome ;)
