iPhone volume buttons no longer control your ring volume? Here's how to fix that!

Anyone owning an iPhone out there, either old user or newcomer, who has iOS 11 on their device has probably noticed something weird since updating — the phone's volume buttons don't control its ring volume.

Wha-a-at?

Yeah, for some reason, Apple thought that it's better to have the volume buttons only control media volume, not ringtone or alarms. But fear not, that's easily remedied with the touch of a setting. In fact, it's a toggle that has been there for quite a while, it's just now that Apple decided to reverse its default position. Here's where to find it:

Lol relax dude. They did not remove it. They made it a toggle. Its not like android has it all figured out either. If I remember correctly, on Motorola devices, the Ringtone volume is forcibly connected to your Notification volume.

How hard could it be to make it control the media volume while adding a volume drop-down toggle? . I prefer it to control media volume, too, but love the convenience of the drop-down in Android. It one of the many things I used to love about Samsung's UI overlay.

I always use volume buttons to control media volume and the switch to turn on/off ringer anyway. So for me it doesn't change anything.

That’s how I had it set up. This is a food move once people figure it out. Haters just complaining that Apple improves even the littlest things. Imagine watching a movie late at night and turning down volume (but expecting a call in the morning). You finish the movie and go to sleep - but forget to turn volume back on. Missed call! For your info, alarm will always ring on iOS even if ringer is set to vibrate. That’s not a bug - that’s intended - just like this setup.

Lol, yet another simple and easily accessible option taken for granted on my Note 8. Want to change what volume buttons do, just press one anywhere > expand the volume panel and toggle the option...

Beauty of TouchWiz/Samsung experience/grace UI. Some people just compain unnecessary about this UX yet it's the most functional of them all hence part of the reason i can't use another phone

It is part of stock android. It is not a samsung's invention...

It's better the way it is now. I only want to control my media volume.
