iPad Pro line-up may expand in 2017 with a 10.5-inch model

iPad Pro line-up may expand in 2017 with a 10.5-inch model
Rumors from Apple’s supply chain in Asia are indicating that production of a 10.5-inch iPad Pro will begin next month, in time for an early 2017 debut.

To accompany what will be a fourth screen size option across the iPad line, the 10.5-inch model will allegedly be the first Apple product to feature an enhanced A10X CPU, basically a beefed-up version of the A10 chip running in the current iPhone 7.

What might we owe a such move for the iPad? Apple has not given up on pushing iPads into the education or enterprise sectors. However, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is too large, in size and in price for schools. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro is apparently not big enough for the enterprise. A 10.5-inch tablet could be the “just right” size being sought.

With a spec-ed out 10.5-inch iPad in the stable, the rumors further point to a cheaper 9.7-inch tablet, with the goal of competing against the wide array of Android tablets.

The initial report is coming from DigiTimes, which is not always on target when it comes to rumors. However, industry analysts have floated similar ideas prior to this latest round of rumors, up to, and including the adoption of AMOLED panels.

Given all that, we will take the rumors with a pinch of salt, but remain interested in how Apple might position part of its iPad line to compete with lower-cost Android tablets. That would be an interesting day, indeed.

God, I hope so. The original Tab S series were the best Samsung's produced and the 'sequels' were so lackluster I haven't upgraded yet.

I still have a Tab S 10.2 and the wide screen vs my ipad pro 9.7 makes for a nicer movie and Web experience, at least for me. Only reason Samsung went with the 4:3 screen is to align it with iPad's form factor. Can't imagine any other reason

I prefer them, hold the device in landscape and the buttons are on the right where my hands located, put them in the bottom center and it's awkward to use.

Why make it be bigger when it will just be the same. Like the 12" model. Its just a 12" piece of useless over-sized junk. We don't need a new size, we need new capabilities. Wake up Apple. The iPad sales are already going down hill. Apple is lost. They have no idea what they are doing.

So I have to be a troll, because the I want the iPAd to be betetr, especially for what it costs? For what it costs it should have x86 hardware and running OS X. I mean it can easily have the specs of the MacBook Air. Apple has the money. You all brag about their horde of cash and making so much profits. So me asking them to take that money and make a better product makes me a Samsung troll? F***K You dude! You are the trolls. You are a frikkin idiot and a loser. Go screw yourself. Seems like drugs have already done that for you anyways, because you are dummer than a box of nuts and bolts.

Apple is lost!!!! What a crazy comment. It is not Apple fault if the tablet market is down. All the others are copying Apple and then no innovations in this area. Apple created the tablet market by the first iPad so let the others move their backs and innovate a little bit. My money is ready for this size. Time to change my iPad Air 2.

Apple makes a premium tablet. Android just won't build a tablet with specs to rival their flagships. Loving my Air 2. The one guy calling it junk actually says he owns one. What kind of person would talk trash then go out and buy one?

I bought it to upgrade my Air 2. I expected it to me better. After all it raised in price by $100. However, I wouldn't have bought it, if Verizon didn't offer it to me for th same price as the Air 2. I keep an iOS device because I have vested money on apps, nusic and videos. So that means I can speak from experience when I say the ipad is a piece of s**t. Its no better than the Air 2. Same size basically same specs, same chassis other than side firing speakers which si BS. No 3D Touch, no nothing. And there are Android tablets that rival smartphone specs.

The iPad becomes a piece of s**t when it is in your hand.

No the ARM tablet market is down. Windows tablets are seeing an uptick. Already hybrids make up 17% of the tablet market. By this time next year, it will have surpassed the iPad in market-share. Apple is lost. They have no idea what to do. When Samsung released a 10.5" Tab S, to go against the iPad, Apple should have responded with a 10.5 model then. Why wait until now. What is the point of 10.5 when you already make a 9.7? Apple is just doing what you all claim Samsung does, throw s*=T at the wall and see what sticks.
