Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact dimension drawings leak, show thinner handsets
If you had any doubts that an Xperia Z3 is coming fast and furious about six months after the Z2 was released, this latest leak of the phones' CAD drawings should quickly disperse those. Not only that, but we also have the CAD schemes of one Xperia Z3 Compact, that is long rumored to make a cameo alongside its larger flagship sibling.

Long story short, the dimensions that are depicted for the Xperia Z3 are somewhat different than those of the Z2 - at 146.46 x 72.09 x 7.3 mm it is slightly narrower and much thinner than Sony's current flagship edition. Frankly, a 7.3 mm girth is insane for a handset that will pack major specs, and be most likely waterproof.

As for the munchkin, the Z3 Compact is expected to fit a 4.6" display, and will evidently sport 129 x 64.9 x 8.8 mm dimensions. Thus, it will be much more manageable in the hand than the largish Z3, yet with the same great specs, save maybe for the screen resolution and RAM amount. These dimensions make it only a tad taller than the Z1 Compact, however thinner, and with the same width. Well, the IFA expo will be pretty exciting this fall, it turns out, as, besides those two thin and powerful Xperias, we are also expecting the Note 4, the Ascend D3, and plenty of other surprises. We will, of course, put boots on the ground, so that you don't miss a beat from all that will be announced.

If they improve the camera performance and battery life of z2, then this phone will be a king.

So...you're saying that battery life on Z2 is poor?

apparently z3c is only 2mm taller and 0.7mm slimmer than z1c. so this is basically have same size as z1c with bigger screen gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z1_compact-5753.php

pa, the height is 126.98 not 129 so the z3c and z1c have same height.

IMO Sony should make a Z3 Medium A ~135 x 70 mm phone with a ~5" screen (like the Xperia ZL)

For me if this phone doesn't pack snapdragon 805 and OIS stabillized camera it's not worth buying over the Z2.I mean whats the point, specs matter otherwise it's the same phone.

Is it just me or the Z2 just looks more eye-catching, elegant & stylish than this?...just asking;)

it's just you. z3 and z3c look to have the best omnibalance design yet and best ergonomics. no comparison. pretty amazing dimensions also. good job sony!

i hope those 4 "SEPARATE CORNERS" on the phone are not the final design. it doesn't gives a complete finished chasis look to the phone unlike z2. and top and bottom bezels... :'(

those cuts have purpose. either for antenna or absorption of impact in case the phone drops. sony is not stupid.

i really hope they have a good reason behind this.

what about screen size ?

Doing simple maths, assuming the screen aspect ratio is 16:9 as usual... Z3 Compact the width according to drawings is 54.16mm... so height will be 101.61mm. the diagonal would then be 116.59mm and that would make them: diagonal (inches) = 4.59! amazing for such size. Z3 does not show any screen dimensions...

If Compact has 4.6 it will be total killer, look at its size, it's shorter than Z1C, but wider also which is not so good. Can't wait to see this phone!

the size is about the same. z3c : 126.98 x 64.9 x 8.8 mm z1c : 127 x 64.9 x 9.5 mm
