Xiaomi teases tomorrow's unveiling of MIUI 7?
A teaser posted on Xiaomi's Weibo page today, hints at the unveiling tomorrow of the company's latest Android based MIUI user interface. MIUI 7 is said to be based on Android 5.1. Based on screenshots of the first beta version of the UI, the only change seems to be the shape of the battery icon from oval to rectangular. Considering that it is the first beta version of MIUI 7, we really shouldn't put too much stock in the image.

The teaser found on Weibo today shows a screenshot (from a Xiaomi Mi Note) of a calendar with tomorrow's date highlighted. Posted on the teaser is the time 10:00am and the number "7."

MIUI 7 is expected to be pre-installed on the next-generation Xiaomi flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 5. Because Xiaomi wants its next flagship model to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, we might not see the Mi 5 hit the market until March. Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang said last month that the Snapdragon 820 won't start shipping until December, which means that any new handset to use the chip won't be launched until March. If things pan out like this, it will mean that Xiaomi will have gone 19 months between introducing a new flagship phone. That is an eternity for the manufacturer that happens to be the leading smartphone producer in China.
