Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s battery test is done: see how it compares against iPhones and Galaxies
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s (see full specs here) is probably the most surprisingly exciting phone of 2018: we have been using it for about a week now and the slim and elegant design, as well as the smooth performance and rich in options interface are definitely impressive.

Just to brief you quickly on the specs, we are talking about a true bezel-less flagship with a 6-inch 2:1 screen (no notch here) with an exquisite ceramic back and metal frame, the powerful Snapdragon 845 chip, a dual camera system with portrait mode, as well as the option to have a gesture based interface and a few other tricks.

But how does Xiaomi's best phone yet does in terms of battery life?

To understand that, we ran our proprietary battery test on the Mi Mix 2s and the results are in. The Mi Mix 2s comes with a rather average-sized 3,400mAh battery and... it also hits about the average score for a 2018 flagship. In our test, the Mi Mix 2s scored almost 8 hours, about on par with the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the Note 8, but lower than other flagships.

See how it compares to the most popular notable phones right below:

Battery life (hours) Higher is better
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s 7h 57 min (Good)
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 9h 5 min (Excellent)
Apple iPhone X 8h 41 min (Excellent)
Apple iPhone 8 Plus 10h 35 min (Excellent)
Samsung Galaxy S9+ 8h 5 min (Excellent)
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 7h 50 min (Good)
Google Pixel 2 XL 8h 57 min (Excellent)
Sony Xperia XZ2 8h 54 min (Excellent)
LG V30 9h 34 min (Excellent)

Unlike earlier versions of MIUI, with MIUI 9.5, the latest version of the platform that we have on the Mix 2s and that is based on Android Oreo, you have no special "performance" mode and no specific performance settings whatsoever, in case you were wondering.

We did not get the stock wall charger that comes traditionally in the box with the Mi Mix 2s, but consumers will get one and it does support fast charging speeds.

The Mi Mix 2s also supports fast wireless charging. There is no wireless charger in the box with the phone, but Xiaomi does sell an elegant, pebble-shaped charger that you can use. Of course, you can use any other Qi-compliant wireless charger as well.

Stay tuned for our full review of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s that is coming up soon. This certainly shapes up to be one of the most exciting phones of the year that many people have never even heard of and we always like such nice surprises.

That sucks! Plus the front camera at the bottom would be awkward to use.

App is probably designed to allow you to turn the phone upside down, which then orients the selfie camera in the usual orientation. This isn't the first phone with a front facing camera on the bottom.

As usual your test are biased advertisement of Apple products. There is no single Apple iPhone 8 Plus owner to reach that time of battery life. Except is just on standby.

I guess the line between "good" and "excellent" is the 8 hour mark. Xiaomi scored a 7:57, which gave it a "good" score. Galaxy S9+ gets a whopping 8 minutes more, and is scored "excellent". What this tells me is the Mix 2s will have the same real world battery life as the S9+.

I wouldn't really trust Phonearena's batttery life test, as it heavily disagrees with every other test out there.

If you really want to see an intensive battery test go for GSMArena. Except for web browsibg on 4G I can't find a tech site testing the battery life in 4G, alway on WiFi. Which is unrealistic why? If you have a WiFi connection might as well use the tablet (if you have), pc or mac for web browsing

I'm just proud every time I see the V30 on this list even though I don't own it. LG did a lot right with the V30. Hoping for a knockout in the V40.

I don't understand how the Mi Mix 2 has such a better battery life than the Mi Mix 2s? They have exactly the same screen, both run the same UI, have the same battery capacity, and the Mix 2s has a more efficient soc. Maybe @phonearena's device was faulty?

Mi Mix 2s is indeed had an underwhelming battery life compared to Mi Mix 2. The Mi Mix 2 has 65 hrs endurance rating but Mi Mix 2s only has 56 hrs. The possible reason is the software since there's a secondary camera...lol.
