Windows Phone powered Samsung ATIV S is getting a firmware update
Korean based manufacturer Samsung is preparing a firmware update for the Samsung ATIV S. The Windows Phone powered handset will go from its current software version of 2424.12.12.3 to 2424.13.13.1. The version now running the device contains the Portico update. The major addition to the phone following the update will be the ability to use Wi-Fi tethering. This is a feature that is also supposedly coming to the Samsung Omnia W.
The update is scheduled to hit your Samsung ATIV S sometime before the calendar turns to June. There are only a few days left in this month, so you should expect the update to reach you shortly. After the update, both unlocked and carrier branded versions of the phone will offer the same features. The former did not come with the ability to run Wi-Fi tethering.
