Windows 95 makes an appearance on the HTC HD2
For something that was created to run back in 1995, you'd think that our modern smartphones would be more than capable of running something like Windows 95 – in fact, it had to take another Windows based handset to get the job done. When you think about it, the HTC HD2 could probably out run those early computers built to run Windows 95. Sporting a processor that probably lived in the dreams of gadget hounds back in 1995, the HTC HD2 proves itself as being more than capable of running Microsoft's classic operating system. There's a video that clearly shows how the venerable smartphone is clearly running a functional Windows 95 OS in VGA mode thank to the Qemu processor emulator. Not only can you open some of the classic programs like Paint, but the 1GHz Snapdragon processor shows off its prowess by running Starcraft so effortlessly on the phone without any hiccups. Although Windows 95 did lay the foundation for a lot of the common elements we find in Microsoft's platforms, the HTC HD2 still pays homage to the original operating system that really started the ball for Microsoft 15 years ago. If you really have the itch to experience some nostalgia with yesterday's  premier operating system, you can check out the instructions on getting this emulator to run on an HTC HD2 over at xda-developers.
