Waze hits Windows Phone Store, but you can't get it yet
Crowd-sourced traffic and navigation app Waze has hit the Windows Phone Store, but even if you have the platform running your phone, you cannot download it right now. The app is undergoing a private beta test. The Israeli based Waze actually got its start on Windows Mobile, but did not follow Microsoft to Windows Phone 7. It has been quite popular on iOS and Android where 40 million users help other Waze members find the best route to avoid traffic jams, know where Smokey is using a radar gun to trap speeders, and where to find the cheapest gas.
The private beta now being held for Waze at the Windows Phone Store needs beta testers (natch). You can head over to the sourcelink and create a new account that will allow you to make sure that the app works just as amazingly on Windows Phone as it does on other platforms.
If you're a Windows Phone user, this could be one of the big name apps that you have been waiting for along with Instagram. It might not happen as quickly as you'd like, but the Windows Phone Store is beginning to fill up with the same apps that populate the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Now if only the Windows Phone Store could snag Instagram.
