On Thursday, HTC introduced the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. The U Ultra features a 5.7-inch Super-LCD 5 display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset, which means the handset carries a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The device includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, and a 2TB microSD slot can be accessed by those seeking additional storage. The 12MP rear camera has an aperture of f/1.8, support for RAW images and OIS. The front-facing selfie snapper weighs in at 16MP. The unit is kept alive by a 3000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 is pre-installed.

A secondary screen measuring 2.05-inches can be found on top of the unit. An AI based personal assistant, HTC Sense Companion, is available to handle tasks, give you suggestions and answer your questions. Biometric voice technology allows you to unlock the U Ultra by talking to it, and four always-on microphones enhance the sound quality of phone calls. Besides the high-end specs, the phone features top shelf looks as well thanks to the use of glass in both front and back. Paint is applied under the glass layers for a unique look.

All in all, it would appear that there are quite a few selling points for the HTC U Ultra. To find out what the company's top fans thought of the phone, HTC gathered members of the HTC Elevate community for a special unveiling of the U Ultra. "It feels like perfection in my hand," said one member. Another praised the big, beautiful and bold display. Of course, these are people who are considered to be among HTC's top fans, so these comments need to be weighed accordingly.
