Watch as HTC's top fans check out the HTC U Ultra (VIDEO)

On Thursday, HTC introduced the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. The U Ultra features a 5.7-inch Super-LCD 5 display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset, which means the handset carries a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The device includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, and a 2TB microSD slot can be accessed by those seeking additional storage. The 12MP rear camera has an aperture of f/1.8, support for RAW images and OIS. The front-facing selfie snapper weighs in at 16MP. The unit is kept alive by a 3000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 is pre-installed.
A secondary screen measuring 2.05-inches can be found on top of the unit. An AI based personal assistant, HTC Sense Companion, is available to handle tasks, give you suggestions and answer your questions. Biometric voice technology allows you to unlock the U Ultra by talking to it, and four always-on microphones enhance the sound quality of phone calls. Besides the high-end specs, the phone features top shelf looks as well thanks to the use of glass in both front and back. Paint is applied under the glass layers for a unique look.

All in all, it would appear that there are quite a few selling points for the HTC U Ultra. To find out what the company's top fans thought of the phone, HTC gathered members of the HTC Elevate community for a special unveiling of the U Ultra. "It feels like perfection in my hand," said one member. Another praised the big, beautiful and bold display. Of course, these are people who are considered to be among HTC's top fans, so these comments need to be weighed accordingly.

Jumping to conclusions, who said this was the only flagship from HTC this year, for all we know the u series could just be showcasing htc's new design language just like they the A series did in 2016

It still is a really great device though actually.. it outperforms 98% of all Android smartphones in real world usage really so.. not everyone is on the flagship time upgrade cycle either. This is like a Pixel but arguably slightly improved(SD storage) in some ways and worse in other ways(Not OLED screen, no headphone jack) blend of the Edge/V20/Pixel imo, On that note, personally I pass on this device, new flagships are around the corner

From the article: "It feels like perfection in my hand," said one member" Yep, the perfection of a Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG V20 hybrid!

Agreed my last 4 phones have been htc. But these u play phones are all garbage. And if that's all they got this year. I'm jumping ship.

I don't care if the back looks like a Samsung, this phone is a beast. 2TB of SD. Frigging awesome.

Jesus Christ dude! There isn't one available yet, the biggest is 500GB but the point is that it includes the option since most phones the most it accommodates is 250GB. Lets use some common sense here will ya?

why did you care about that basic stuff? ALL current flagship that have microSD slot DID support 2TB mSD size.. since all of their slot support SDXC which have 2TB max size.. all other phone write 256GB support because that's whats available right now (or 200GB if that phone released when the max available size at that time is 200GB, or 128 for same reason) please read more about this topic before write something stupid like that, tq

Yeah those devices are just not quite anything I would buy in 2017 considering what will be eventually coming out at that same price point...
