Walmart updates its mobile app to prepare for the holiday shopping frenzy
The Walmart mobile app has received an update to prepare for the upcoming holiday shopping season. The retailer predicts that its iOS and Android apps will host a total of 210 million visits from holiday shoppers this year. Among the changes made with the update is the ability for users to build a Wish List using the Scan and Shop feature. In addition, Wish Lists from others can be searched for using the app.
With Mobile Check-in, Walmart app users can employ their phone to check-in when picking up an online order. This is another time saving feature available to those who download and install the Walmart app from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
Walmart has also announced some pre-Black Friday deals. A Samsung Galaxy S3 for its Straight Talk pre-paid service is reduced from $179 to $99. The phone is available in white, and the deal is offered online only. And the 16GB Wi-Fi only Apple iPad mini 2 has been cut in price from $268 to $199.99.

The advantage in using the Walmart app is that it saves you from having to fight the crowd from Black Friday through Christmas Eve. All of the retailer's online and in-store inventory is available from your phone and tablet, once you've installed the app on your mobile device.
