Unlocked LG V30 now officially available in the US

Starting today, December 1, LG Mobile USA is officially selling an unlocked version of its V30 smartphone. For now, the unlocked V30 is only available via retailer B&H, in one color variant: Cloud Silver. The phone costs $819.99, this price being in line with what all US carriers are charging for the V30 (if bought outright).

Update (December 4): Best Buy is now offering the unlocked V30, too, asking $799 for it.

The unlocked LG V30 works on all relevant carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc), and obviously comes with US warranty. If you're ordering the handset tomorrow (December 2) the latest, you can take advantage of a recent promotion allowing you to get up to $400 back when you purchase an additional LG device.

Available on most US carriers since September, the LG V30 still runs Android 7 Nougat. Fortunately, an update to Android 8 Oreo should be released soon - possibly for the unlocked variant first.

The V30 is arguably one of the best LG-made smartphones in recent years, offering a nice design and a slew of pretty attractive features (like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor, a powerful dual rear camera, 64 GB of expandable storage space, and decent battery life). You can find out much more about the handset by checking out our LG V30 review.

I've heard that some carrier employees can purchase the V30 at $340. I'd say that's a steal!

I love the v30, but LG took way too long to release it. Unlocked model is just now coming out? lol

The ship has sailed and people have forgotten about this phone already..... Every year LG fails in some way or another, this year their devices are good but marketing and sales strategies are so bad. Such a good high capacity phone going unnoticed and to the waste bin.

Exactly. I think V30 is too late and lost it's craze, but price fall may attract some sales. S9 is coming.

yeah i also agree, ship has sailed. I got the s8+ but I'm disgusted with the sensor. originally a note series fan and that's all down hill also since they made one without a sd card slot...... tbh i dont even know what to do anymore......

I wanna believe that LG and Sony, who are both always bad about releasing phones globally, are hitting certain road blocks that companies like Samsung and Apple are not (or have historically dealt with them in other ways.) I refuse to believe that LG and Sony are sitting around wasting time and not wanting to penetrate the wealthiest and most influential markets in the world (NA and EU) from day one. There has to be more to this that we're not privy to...

For those of you who have this phone, what are your thoughts on the device? Are the screen problems that noticeable or blown out of proportion?

Blown out of proportion IMHO. I have no issues with the screen on mine.

Sibling has this phone and loves it, no screen problems for him.

Blown out of proportion. The blue shift is there, but after set up, I literally did not notice it. The screen is beautiful. Not Samsung quality, mind, but even that is hard to notice.

1) Blue shift is indeed there. Tilt it just a little bit and it instantely shifts. But honestly, i never look at my phone from an angle and even if i do, i actually dont notice it. 2) the "light bleeding" (yeah i know, its oled, its not really light bleed" Anyways, no issue at all, good screen. I think they actually solved the problem in later batches. Got mine 3 days ago. 3) I totally love the phone, everything is exactly what i want in a phone EXCEPT: The front camera is really really really bad. If you've watched reviews, its even worse lol. Also coming from iphone, snapchat is really really bad (rear and front camera) on the lg v30. Heard its a android issue but its worse than other android phones.

I'd be more worried about the dated looking OS than anything with this device. Nothing wrong with Android 7.0, but LG's take on it is on the same level that Touchwiz was a few years ago.

I keep seeing this comment repeated. What is so atrocious about the OS on the LG? I had a Galaxy S7 Edge before this, and I fail to see how it was any better then the LG V30. Except for the skipping I used to get with the Samsung not being present on the LG.

The look and feel are very dated.

Throw a launcher on there.

exactly!, problem solved for those who care how an OS looks rather than how it performs and what features it brings that are actually useful.

How does it "feel" very dated??? and what is your definition of how an updated OS is suppose to look????

People are whining about everything. Im coming from iphone i actually like it. Doesnt feel outdated at all. Nice and clean colors. I Feel right at home. I hate the stock android look. Also like samsung it has a few nice tweaks you wont get on stock.

To me, it's no different from Samsung's. I never understood the greater tolerance for Samsung's interface and the scorn for LG. LG's interface is more customizable, and doesn't lag (Samsung's lag here and there. Not saying it is bad). It is literally six of one and half a dozen of the other. Plus, if you do not like it, just use a launcher.

Don't ever buy an iPhone. That os has been the same since humans arrived on Earth.
