Swype helps Samsung Omnia II user set new record for fastest text on a touchscreen

Swype helps Samsung Omnia II user set new record for fastest text on a touchscreen
The Samsung Omnia II has a feature that enabled a user to set a new record for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Swype keyboard is a feature that comes right out of the box for the Omnia II. With Swype, you slide (or swipe) your finger around the keyboard without lifting it, to form a word. Almost immediately, users can start to master Swype and the amazing thing is, that you do not have to hit the letters perfectly to get the word typed correctly. The whole application, which is also available for Android phones as we reported, makes typing fun. And as the commercial below shows you, it is also fast and accurate. The Omnia II user in the television spot had set a new record for the fastest text message on a touchscreen mobile phone with 5 seconds to spare.

Samsung makes it seem like they invented Swype. Lol. I guess those Omnia II sales aren't going as well as expected and they think Swype is a selling point. More importantly, what did he Swype? And I can't imagine it was punctuationally correct either. I've been trying to wrap my head around Swype for months and for me it just complicates the uncomplicated act of typing out a word.

It takes some time to get it right because you have to retrain your mind to think of the whole word at once instead of breaking it up letter by letter. Once you start to get it though, it is really fast. The only problem is when I give the phone to a friend, they have no clue how to type with it.

as long as you know the regular layout of a keyboard and know how to spell you can figure swype out in 10 minutes.

I agree, Swype is the salvation of the keyboard-less devices like the HTC Droid Eris or the Omnia II

I use it all the time on my Droid and I love it! Able to type so fast, it makes me feel like im typing on my BB Storm Suretype keyboard with the speed that comes with it and accuracy.

the nice thing with the keyboard is that it still has the option to be a normal keyboard if you need to make a new word. the text is "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human." and it has to be correct. The last world record was 40~ seconds so in 35 seconds thats still pretty fast and i beleive it, i have been using swype for about 2 months now and like it a lot.
