Specs for Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus leak; new models to be unveiled in July?

A new leak has sprung up in China, revealing information about two new handsets coming out of Xiaomi's camp. There is now speculation that the high-flying smartphone manufacturer is prepping not one, but two versions of its flagship phone. The Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus are both expected to be unveiled in July.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch screen with a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU under the hood. 3GB or 4GB of RAM is onboard with a 16MP rear camera included. The phone will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and the handset could be equipped with a fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus will include a larger 6-inch bezel-less screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The phone will probably be driven by the same Snapdragon 810 CPU that powers the Mi 5, and there will be 4GB of RAM inside. The Mi 5 Plus will have a 16MP rear camera featuring OIS. The rest of the specs are unknown for now.

As we get closer to the expected unveiling in July, we should find out more information about both models including pricing and availability

Desperation doesn't come from market share, but money you make at the end of the day. Apple can make 15 billion from just 15-20% market share. How much did Xiaomi make so far? http://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2014/12/15/xiaomi-profit-margins-samsung-china/http://www.cnet.com/news/upstart-phone-maker-xiaomi-values-growth-over-profit/ Mere 56million. Amount Apple/Samsung makes less than a day. When you sell for dirt cheap, people in 3rd world country willobviously buy it, no secret. But is it really helping them? In global scale, they are not even in top 3/4 either.

you know I think it is stupid to rave about how a company can take more many than you for a product with very similar capabilities. this is just stupid from consumer point of view, except you are an executive there or something.

as you can see on the news, chinese smartphone competition is extremely cutthroat, there is no shortage of cheap android phones with great specs. new phones from vivo, oppo, lenovo, huawei, iuni, alcatel, zte reported on phonearena every day. and phonearena have barely scratched the surface, there are hundreds of other smaller chinese companies. in other words, you are right, xiaomi is pretty desperate

because it makes the mi5 plus stand out from the standard mi5 just like the iphone 6 and 6 plus. i bet the mi5 will only have 3gb of ram and the mi5 plus will 4gb, one has qhd and the other has fhd its all to make the plus actually be a plus over the mi5 instead of it just meaning a bigger phone.

Why Mi5 Plus when there's Mi Note Pro already?

Too bad, one is too small and the other too big - for me that is. I prefer 5.5 inch screens.

Would look better with higher screen to body ratio,.

Why only 3000mah battery? We need at least 3500mah now from you .

Seeing the battery life of XiaoMi Note and compare it to Galaxy Note 4 or Xperia Z3, I would expect 4500mAH from XiaoMi.

Xiaomi is spoiled by their success when they hit 3rd position in global smartphone shipments at Q3 2014. Then they began to giving less or asking more. Now they surpassed by Lenovo, Huawei and LG at the quarter they released two new gun Redmi 2 and Mi Note.

Its a great news for mobile phone users. If xiaomi is serious about mobile business in India then it should focus on quality and innovation in smartphones. some of them are improvement in sound quality with addition of improved Yamaha amplifier, low light good quality camera with vivid colour, saturation, quick focus etc. The phone should contain all sensors like temperature, heart beat etc. Xiaomi should project an independent appearance of its phone different from iPhone & Samsung. The display should be bright, hi contrast with dense pixel count. Care should be taken to see the heat level of the processors. The battery capacity should exceed 4000 MAH. The interface should be extremely touch sensitive for high performance gaming. The phone should be dust, water, heat & electromagnetic resistant. The camera should feature optical image stabilization with laser/ ir based focusing feature.

Xaiomi should note that to stand tall in the crowd of mobile phone makers, it should keep the prices down. Look at Nokia and Samsung that as sales grow company stops investing in RD and makes cosmetic changes and increase price on routine basis. The cost benefit analysis is minimal and in this process the consumer gets cheated. The company resorts to unfair and stupid means of publicity thereby spoiling the brand name for ever. So keep upgrading with lower cost of handset.
