Sony Z1 Honami tester comments on a prototype's G Lens camera, chassis and display
The Sony Z1 Honami, you know, the upcoming Android cameraphone, is in the hands of testers, and one of them added more info to what we already heard here and there.

First, the camera - the tester says it is indeed branded G Lens, but he doesn't see a "wow factor" in it, and if the leaked samples are any indication that might hold true, though we'll have to get the retail unit before passing any judgment. It's not clear whether the Honami he got was wrapped up as a "mule" of sorts, or is it the final design, as his measurements showed a suspiciously heavily, 190 grams device.

As for the screen, a 5" Triluminous panel got confirmed, though the display seems to have been of poorer contrast when placed next to the Z Ultra, yet we'll again wait for a review unit to judge the screen quality. Here's the original scoop:

Remember, this is why this guy's a tester. No phone is ever perfect in the testing phase.

true, he has to be critical of every single thing. he probably gets his hands on all different kind of device so he wouldnt be impressed that easily. and if phone is actually not great as we expect then..... well atleast its a future-proof phone.

Okay first of all, this is about SONY again, and why PA? Why are you posting things like this? Is there something like this that Samsung, Apple, HTC etc.. that is involved? I think none! When it comes to SONY when you saw negatives or some letdowns you're posting it.. Why?? Just asking, and please don't remove my comment again!

I don't buy that excuse anymore. It's always "prototype, wait for the final release" well look at Nokia 1020. The final product is a disappointment.

But there is a follow-on version of the L1020.... Just wait for it to drop! Remember how the L920 wasn't exactly wow? And then the L925 & L928 were released. Just have to wait for another 6+ months (or so). There is always a better phone waiting in the wings. End of sarcasm.

Dont get your hopes so high... Though Im sure the camera will be better than the leaked pictures... I am still going to get the Honami Mini either way... Perfect size and flagship specs... hope is true and hope is soon after 9/4 I only wish it had a 4.5-4.6 screen cause it will most likely have screen buttons... and 4.3" with screen buttons makes it a bit small

"There's this bo liao app where you can take AR effect like a 3D dinosaur/fairies in the backdrop lol" Bo liao? That tester must be a chinese, Y U NO SPEAK ENGLISH? By the way, I hope that those leak photos of the Honami aren't real, because it didn't have the wow factor. And that tester is complaining non-stop, I really hope that this is the best of Sony.

The tester is Singaporean. HWZ is a singaporean based forum site. Anyway, Bo Liao is a Chinese dialect for nothing better to do or useless. Translated into proper English, what the tester means is "there is also a gimmicky feature in the camera app where you can super impose dinosaurs etc in the background". Well, it's normal for us Singaporeans to utilise a wee bit of colloquialism. Limpeh correct right brudder?

Seriously, the main reason you are reading this article because you can't wait for a Honami vs 1020 showdown. Epic this fight will be.

May be Lumia 1020 win on camera department because its spot much bigger sensor than honami. And Lumia may win on all other departments. Because, first it run on WP gdr2 update and all hardware boost come only on gdr3 update. Second android have wide ecosystem and apps but its just personal preference though.

Don't care at who wins. There hasn't been a camera phone titan battle since Pixon and Cybershot series disappeared. Sony is Nokia's biggest camera phone rival ever. Godzilla vs King Kong Motherf@kers.

fanboys are full of crap, because you can't put a sensor of that size (1 inch) into a chasis that is only 9mm thick.

the tester seems like either a singaporean or taiwanese bo liao app LOL

If by "ridiculous" you mean "honest and helpful to Sony," and "someone who is doing his job correctly because if he doesn't the Honami won't be as good as it can be," then yes, this guy is... "ridiculous."

By ridiculous test and tester i mean useless and incomplete. Whats the use of such a test when the tester himself confesses that he is not sure of anything and his review is kind of incomplete and vague? i think he was only trying to pass his time! and then PA finds a great opportunity to bash Sony and haters like you start their trolling process! this is exactly what i mean.

You seem a little mad about what the reviewer said. Just take a deep breath, and just hope the finalized product is better than the prototype.

Where does he confess that he is "not sure of anything"? Also, I'm not a hater, I really want my next phone to be a Honami, to complete the trifecta I'll have going (Vaio + PS4). I'm just not a blind trollish fanboy like yourself who can't admit that there can be anything wrong with his precious Sony. I dare you to admit that the Honami could have something wrong with it, that it could have some inferior qualities compared to other phones. I dare you.
