Sony Xperia Z4 front panel leaks, showing subtle changes

Sony Xperia Z4 front panel leaks, showing subtle changes
Ready for your first peek at the Sony Xperia Z4's front panel? Sorry, guys - it isn't anything spectacular. It looks about the same as the one on the Xperia Z3. The front cam and light sensor positions have been reversed for some reason, but that's all there's to it.

There are two things we felt like they are safe to say. The first is that this unassuming panel will look as great as it always did when it's joined by the glass cover and finely sculpted metal frame. Although the bezels look quite thin, they might end up looking a little thicker in practice, due to the way the frame covers them a little bit - look at the Xperia Z3's front panel to get what we mean.

The second is that the Xperia Z4 probably won't have any design surprises to reveal. Look at it up front, and it will be hard to tell from the Xperia Z3. Sony's "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach is commendable, but it's getting a little tired, don't you think?

We expect to see more from the Sony Xperia Z4 as the months ahead of its second or third quarter announcement dwindle. Specs wise, it should be a Snapdragon 810-powered beast with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and possibly two 1080p/1440p display resolution variants. Sony has gotten extremely stale with their design. Even Apple's design seems revolutionary incomparison to Sony's.

The man has a point, as much as I dislike Apple, the Xperia Z line design has been recycled too much. (Not that it's bad, just... stale).

It seems stale because the glass-sandwich design has been used since the Z despite the subtle changes in the frame, but "Apple's design seems revolutionary in comparison to Sony's". Nooooooooooooooooooop. Also, let's not forget that this might not be the real thing, even if it's just the front panel and everyone's going gaga without having seen the full body.

At least they are sticking to their own design language unlike copysung.

They kept the same design inside and out ever since the xperia z, i wanna see something different this year, but looks like it's not gonna happen

apple's designs are revolutionary !!! remember 2007 ,Steve jobs ,original iPhone announcement , what a day !!! to this day so many companies try to copy the iPhone. Sony is probably the only company Steve ever respected , but they lost it.

That looks...kinda meh. Z3 looks better.

The more rounded Xperia Z3 is indeed the best-looking Xperia. So I hope that this will not be the Z4...

Fingers crossed they did something about the back panel. Tough grippy aluminium would be nice.

The materal they use on the back of the z3 tablet compact is really nice! I like the xperia design no need to change it much.

Honestly they can keep the Omnibalance style front panel. I personally prefer sharp masculine lines and barely rounded corners. And the screen to bezel ratio is still decent (~73% if this panel is real) considering that we are expecting better speakers, larger battery and larger sensors. The glass back is still good looking but has its flaws (my Z1 gathers dust and smudges like crazy) . Faux frosted glass, frosted plastic like the Z3 Compact's frame or metal would be a nice change. The Z3 Tablet Compact's matte plastic is very nice and practical but you know... flagships.

the speaker openings are better here imo. Love that it keeps bezels and design language. Imo sony made a great move with the z. The z1 i didn't like that much but z2 was on par with z. Z3 takes the cake. The best looking phone ever imo especially in the copper color. Although i prefer the speaker openings on the z2. The z is here for resale the same price as the s4 probably because of the design language. The specs are lower and it was 100€ cheaper when they where new.

"learn". Sony never reduced the top and bottom bezel from its z1.
