Sony Xperia XA successor leaks in more renders?

Smartphone business doesn't mean just high-tier products for Sony Mobile. The Japanese company has a pretty solid mid-range Xperia lineup as well, and new ones are expected to be unveiled as early as February.

Although Sony Mobile was present at CES trade fair early this month, it did not introduce any new smartphones. It looks like the handset maker is saving all the announcements for MWC 2017, which is set to take place in late February.

One of the phones that could be unveiled next month is the Xperia XA's successor. This isn't the first time we hear about the phone, as some of you probably read our previous report that mentioned the first leaked render of the device.

Today, a new set of renders of the alleged Xperia XA successor leaked, but this time there are a couple of things pretty visible such as the USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and the popular strap hole, which makes a comeback.

Design-wise little has changed, as the phone shown in these images feature the same “unified design concept” introduced last year at Mobile World Congress.

Unfortunately, we can't tell for sure whether or not this is indeed the Xperia XA successor, but it does look like a new Xperia smartphone that hasn't been announced yet.

At least Samsung just has two little lines at the top and two little lines at the bottom. You don't really notice them. I will take little lines over huge bezels like this phone and that other phone.

I wouldn't take "little" lines over huge bezels and front firing stereo speakers.

You don't need huge bezels to have front speakers.

You are totally right that's why we have the Z5 Compact as an example for that.

I believe it's for styling purpose. Their design is known for a balanced symmetry.

Nice looking but ONCE Again Sony is obsessed with ultra large top & bottom bezels. Why

I think I have written it at least ten times but people don't seem to get it. So once again: You clearly cannot fit rear camera components directly behind a screen so it's either massive thickness, or protruding lens or big bezels to fit the rear camera above the screen. Samsung chooses protruding lens. LG has big thickness in the middle. Apple has both huge bezels and protruding lense. Sony chooses bezels. Also there is another reason that Sony bezels look bigger. It's the square design: the bezels on my Xperia Z5 Premium are not much larger than the bezels on my Nexus 5X (and smaller tan on my iPhone) but they look visually bigger because there are no big radiuses from front view to cut the corners.

S6 and S7 have protruding camera humps, man. The Samsungs are in their thickest points thicker than the Sonys. Sony cameras are flush with the body.

The camera bump is not that much anymore on the s6 and the s7/s7 edge

Sorry, on the S6 the camera hump is massive. The S7 has it smaller because it's overall thicker. Still though it's clear; it's either protruding camera or bezels and I say that between the bezels of my Z5 Premium and the camera bump on my Nexus 5X, I'd take the bezels anyday. They are really a lot less annoying. As most people complain -without thinking- about the Sony bezels, others may complain about protruding cameras. Fact is you'll have either the one or the other. Or devices over 8.5mm thick.

Can't deny that Sony does have the best external speaker design. Just flows well, not to mention dual front facing, not like the swiss cheese holes on bottom everybody else is doing.
