Sony Xperia S is now official, flaunts a 4.3-inch HD display
We just introduced you to the Sony Xperia Ion for AT&T, yet it looks like the manufacturer had another announcement scheduled for today. Enter the Sony Xperia S – the aforementioned smartphone's little brother, if you will, packing a 4.3-inch display with 720 by 1280 pixels of resolution and a MSM8260 dual-core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz. And yes, you read that correctly. The “Ericsson” part is now missing from the smartphone's title even though it was still present on those early versions of the device, photos of which made it on the web more than once.

What we also have confirmed about the Sony Xperia S is that a 12-megapixel camera with an Exmor R sensor will be present on its back side, and judging by its press shots, a front-facing shooter is present as well. In terms of storage, 32 gigs are at your disposal. Unfortunately, instead of Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 2.3 Gingerbread will come out of the box, but an update is scheduled for the second half of 2012.

The Sony Xperia S will be available for purchase from the second quarter of 2012 and will come in two colors – black and silver.
