Some Apple services go down including the App Store, Photos, iTunes and more

Repeated warnings received by iPhone users saying that apps can not be purchased at the moment from iTunes, is one of the signs indicating that Apple device users are having problems connecting with several Apple services this afternoon. Certain features like the App Store, iTunes in the Cloud and Photos are not working. As of 5:30pm Eastern Time, 13 services are unavailable to some users, according to Apple's website.

Some features such as Apple Music and Find My iPhone are listed as working by Apple, but there have been reports that those two services are also down. According to Apple, the outages started at approximately 3:45pm EDT.

Apple has responded to tweets sent to them about the outage by saying that they are aware of the situation, and are investigating. As of 5:30pm Eastern Time, the services not working according to Apple's system status page include:

  • Apple TV
  • iCloud Backup
  • iCloud drive
  • iCloud Notes
  • iCloud Storage Upgrades
  • iCloud Web Apps
  • iTunes in the Cloud
  • iWork for iCloud
  • Mac App Store
  • Mail Drop
  • Photos
  • Volume Purchase Program

Apple isn't immune to outages. Many companies have outages. It has happened to Amazon quite recently and Google. Same thing with the carriers.
