Snake hailed as the 'most played videogame of all time'
Move on over Tetris, someone else is reigning in on your parade after it was announced that the popular puzzle game hit the 100 million mobile download mark. According to Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer’s Edition, Snake is being hailed as the ‘most played videogame of all time’. First released way back in 1998 by Nokia for the 6110, it’s estimated that roughly 1 billion people have played the game over the years. Although time has seemingly modified the game to cater to advances in the graphical department, it still remains to be popular among handset owners. From its black and white roots to the complex interactions with 3D environments, Snake engages the player to this day by acting quickly to avoid utter failure. With the backing of the largest mobile phone maker in the world, it’s not too hard to see why it’s able to accomplish such a feat – having a large existing market share doesn’t hurt in gaining this title.
