See Jack. See Jack show off his new iPhone 6 on the telly. See Jack drop his new phone on the news
We just passed along one of the first drop tests for the new Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus, and the results were a frightening reminder to treat the new models with kid gloves. As we pointed out, even the most determined amongst us has dropped our phone. While there are precautions that you can take, sometimes your butterfingers just kick in, or gravity isn't on your side, and you're left holding your breath as you look for any damage.

Earlier we showed you video of the opening of the Apple Store in Sydney, Australia, which was the first country to deliver the new phones. Another city in Australia, Perth, went through the same pomp and circumstance for the release of the new iPhone models. A young man named Jack walked out with an Apple iPhone 6. After waiting in line, and shelling out his hard earned money, Jack was clutching his new iPhone when he was interviewed on television.

We don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that poor Jack conducted a drop test of his own. We have to say that we felt Jack's pain just watching as the events unfolded.

Jack probably experienced a range of emotions: 1. OMG! I am the first one out the odor with my new phone! Yay! 2. OMG! The telley folks want to interview me! I could be famous! This might be my chance to get 'discovered' for Survivor Australia.... The euphoria is building. 3. As the case opening proceeds, there is the beginning of frustration with why doesn't this stupid box open up. The longer it takes, Jack sees his chance at being on the next Survivor Australia slipping away with each second - afterall, if he can't open a simple box, how can he handle tarantulas on Survivor.... The beginning of desperation sets in. Jack starts to shake the box harder. 4. Then the box opens! Yay! All may not be lost for a spot on Survivor! 5. But then the new phone falls to the pavement! F*CK!!!! 6. Jack's shot at Survivor and his 15 seconds of fame end with him nervously picking at the nick(s) his new phone sustained in its encounter with the pavement. High peaks and low valleys, eh, Jack? How is your wait progressing?

Buddy check the PA article concerning the iPhone drop test....they did worse than iphone 4 and 5! and worse than most androids since they are made of plastic fantastic :)

Since I'm an Android fan, I saw the drop test on Android Authority first and in THAT test, the iPhone 6 did well. But I saw this one too and they did a lot worse :)

I think I heard people say that there are reports of it being in good shape and that it did not break. Still, the guy should have found a spot to sit down and not open the box like a tool.

I think that he did it intentionally. To show ppl the real build quality of iPhone.

Nah, I think he was nervous due to cameras - it was his first 15 minutes of fame... poor guy... But when iPhone 5s came out, and I've seen a guy handle his brand new iPhone - I asked him if he's gonna use a case (because I dont - I love the way it looks and feels in hand) - He takes his phone with the back side and scrapes it on the side of a building on purpose - "there, now I got nothing to worry about"... "it's gonna look like that in a few months anyway"... It was jawdropping... some poeple just dont want to go thru that "heart dropping" feeling... He's right though - I work in construction - my phone has been dropped so many times, including 2 incidents into water - still original screen - still works fine... just looks a bit scratched up...
