Samsung Q4 earnings leak claims $5.5 billion in mobile profits
Samsung hasn't officially announced its Q4 earnings numbers just yet, but there are already some leaks coming out of Korea that are claiming that Samsung is looking at some huge numbers, especially compared to the disappointing report we saw from HTC earlier today. If the leak is correct, Samsung could have made a crazy $8 billion in profits in Q4 of 2012.

The official numbers are expected near the end of the month, but early reports say that Samsung will be announcing Q4 operating profits that are up 65% compared to last year at 8.7 trillion. That would mark a new record hight, 7% better than the previous record of 8.1 trillion won in July-September.

The mobile division is what we're really focused on though, and those profits are expected to be even higher, at around 5.8 trillion won, which is twice as much as Q4 2011, and translates to about $5.45 billion in profits from the mobile division alone. If the estimates are to be believed, Samsung also sold an amazing 500 devices per minute in Q4 2012.

That's pretty impressive, but of course Samsung has had a hand in quite a lot recently. Aside from its own line of Android, Windows Phone, and bada devices, Samsung is also a big mobile component supplier. And, even though Apple cut down orders from Samsung for the iPhone 5, Samsung still supplied Apple with a number of key components for the iOS lineup.
