Samsung: Galaxy S8 to come with slick design, improved camera, and enhanced artificial intelligence
During a conference call with analysts on Thursday, Samsung's vice president of mobile Lee Kyeong-tae revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S8 will feature "slick design," an improved camera, and an enhanced artificial intelligence service. The latter might have something to do with Samsung's acquisition of U.S. firm Viv Labs, whose co-founders created Siri, Apple's virtual iOS assistant. Lee declined to comment on whether Samsung will incorporate Viv Labs' technology in the Galaxy S8, though.

The company also discussed its efforts to prevent the Galaxy Note 7's overheating problems from repeating themselves in the Galaxy S8. Former mobile CEO Mr. J.K. Shin, now a Samsung co-executive, told shareholders that the company is working with regulators and independent experts to scrutinize every aspect of the device, including its hardware, software, and manufacturing processes. Shin said that the investigation will take time and that the findings will be shared in an open manner.

We also get to learn that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is on track to become the company's best-selling mobile device ever and has continued to sell well, despite the Note 7 fiasco weighing down on Samsung's public image. The company will have to rely on its staying power for nearly five months precluding the Galaxy S8's release, including the holiday season. It will be the company's only flagship smartphone product, and it's already several months old, while the competition from Apple and Google is busy marketing brand new products – the Apple iPhone 7 and the Google Pixel.

My vote would be more metal and less glass, especially the glass back. And none of that curved glass crap. Impossible to find good tempered glass screen protectors for that.

I really doubt Samsung is going to ditch part of their (now) signature design language. But who knows. I like the curve. A lot.

Modular battery would be nice

With Google assistant now becoming more human like, I see no need for another ai service, however hope they implemented on the gear s3 to replace s-voice.

I think it's gonna be a down holiday season for the Samster. Unfortunately, the Note 7 issue is gonna have a domino effect on the brand name, and effect sales across the line. I hope they figure the Note 7 issue out sooner than later. I really want a Note 8, as I'm hooked on the Note line, but they gotta get to the bottom of this soon. If they haven't figured it out, and released the reason why by the S8 launch, it's gonna hurt. I'm pulling for Samsung, but I can't help but wonder what the hell went wrong with the best phone ever, to make it the most ridiculed phone ever. I want a Note 8 Samsung, but I also want questions answered.

Its good that they will ditch the Note brand and change it to something new.

Well, in many regions Samsung put out an update that effectively capped the battery at 60% charge. And there is evidence that suggests that the problem could get worse as the devices experience more and more charging cycles. That's why the overwhelming majority of them have not experienced any issues. It could also have to deal with how long people leave the device on a charger.

Well, the majority of the Note 7's have been returned by now. So that could be one reason. The other could be what Dr.Phil suggested. But I have a feeling your looking for a conspiracy theory reason...

5.7"+ 4k amoled display, removable battery, expandable storage, s-pen, 6gb+ ram, gorrilla glass 5 screen, minimal to non existant bezels, ceramic or high strength aluminum body, waterproof, snapdragon 830 (or top of the line exynos), better audio, eye tracking, global bands... including cdma, and I'm in. Ok, so maybe that's the wish list for the next note not s8. Regardless of what Samsung calls the next large screen phablet, Please Sammy, give us what we keep asking for! I think I hit most of the wants... if not, please add more.

why not GG 6? removable battery and IP68 will be a challenge unless the phone will be really fat. but if they released an expandable storage without compromising the second sim card also a non-glass back then I'll probably give Samsung a third chance

Okay that sounds nice, good even.. But have they forgot about the Note 7...It had a sleek design.. Nice design... But what was the use.. Rather than a More SLEEK design Samsung should focus on customer safety and user friendly devices..... Just my thoughts.. Don't want any fanboys to.. you know.. do what fanboys do to random thinkers

Will never buy this junk. Might sound good on paper but this crap will never get any major software updates (changes to UI and other stuff). Poor software support....

The Note 7 is so gorgeous that I am really afraid Samsung will craft their next flagships not as astonishing as the former.
