Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge release date and price overview

So, you're waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S6 to launch? Or maybe it's the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge you've got your mind set on. Either way, you're not alone – Samsung is expecting to ship more than 50 million units of its new flagship smartphones. It's an optimistic figure, but not one that can't be met, it seems, as pre-orders for the S6 and S6 edge are going steadily. Both in the U.S. and internationally, at that.

Speaking of pre-orders for the new and hottest Galaxies, this post is all about their release date. Yeah, we know that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge release date is supposed to be April 10, but it turns out that not quite all models will be ready to go on that date. Especially if you have not pre-ordered yours already. Here's an overview of the Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 release date, along with the price each major U.S. carrier charges for one.

AT&T

AT&T will have the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in stores by April 10, but if you're impatient, you may pre-order yours online. In fact, the phones are already shipping, and if you pre-order one today, it should ship within a day or two. Not all variants are available, however. Here's a breakdown of the models available right now.

To make the deal sweeter, AT&T is giving you a $50 discount should you choose to buy the Samsung Gear Circle wireless headset along with the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge on an AT&T Next plan. The accessory's regular price is $83.99. As for the smartphones themselves, here's what you'll be paying for an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 or Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, excluding the cost of your subscription.

Verizon

Verizon will also make the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge available on April 10. Online pre-orders have been live for a while, in case you want to grab one while they're hot. However, availability on specific variants is already limited. Here's a breakdown of when each specific model is expected to become available:

Be aware of Verizon's trade-in program, which lets you get at least $100 for your old smartphone. Galaxy S4 and S5 trade-ins, for example, are valued at $150 and $200 respectively. In addition, Verizon is giving you $100 in bill credit for every smartphone line you bring over from another carrier. Having said all that, here's what the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 cost at Verizon, excluding your monthly service fees.

Verizon stores will open at their usual times on the April 10 Galaxy S6 launch day.

Sprint

Sprint stores are going to have the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in stock on, you guessed it, April 10. Pre-orders are live on the carrier's web site, and shipping has already begun. But as of this writing, availability is limited. Here are the models listed online right now, and before ordering, keep in mind that some models will take longer to ship than others.

As far as pricing goes, Sprint's offer is definitely tempting. If you sign up for the carrier's $80/month Unlimited Plus service, you'll be getting a 32GB model at practically no cost as the $20 monthly lease will be given back to you as credit. The 2-year contract and Family Share plans are also among your options. Don't forget about Sprint's trade-in program in case you want to get rid of your old smartphone easily. Here are the prices for a Sprint Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, excluding service fees.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile has also started shipping pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The phones are expected to be in stock at retail stores on April 10. At least most of the models. Some variants of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be dispatched within another week or two. Here's an overview:

As far as pricing goes, it is simple to pick a plan with T-Mobile. Your default option is to sign up for a Simple Choice plan and then choose how much data you wish to have a month. On top of that, you'll receive one free year of Netflix service. Here's a look at the phones' cost, plan rates excluded.

Canada - Bell, Telus, Rogers

The good news is that Canada's three major wireless carriers will have the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in stock on April 10. In fact, some pre-orders have already been reported as shipped. Color availability will be limited, however. Only Rogers has confirmed that it will be offering the gold Galaxy S6 and S6 edge variants, while the other two big guys have them in white or black only.

U.K. - Vodafone, Three, EE, O2

If Vodafone is your carrier of choice, brace yourself with patience. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge have been on pre-order for a while now and are all on backorder as of this writing. If reserved today, a 32GB Galaxy S6 in black, white, or gold, will ship in 1 to 2 weeks. Same is the case with the white and black 64GB Galaxy S6 edge, and the gold color will need 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. All 128GB models are estimated to ship within a 5- to 6-month period.

At Three UK, only the black and white Samsung Galaxy S6 with 32GB of storage are expected to ship at the April 10 release date. Other models are projected to ship on April 21. As for the 128GB S6 and S6 edge variants, they're currently listed as unavailable.

Availability at EE UK is also patchy. If pre-ordered today, a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge should arrive within 10 to 21 days, with the gold models being the scarcest of all. Don't bother looking for a 128GB model.

At O2, only the 32GB Galaxy S6 and the 64GB Galaxy S6 edge will make it to the April 10 launch date. The remainder of the bunch will be available no sooner than May 1. The 128GB models may take even longer since there's no availability information about them posted on the carrier's web page.
