Samsung's CEO has been spotted using the Galaxy Note 9 in public

Although the image in question fails to reveal too many details about the smartphone other than its compatibility with an S Pen, the particular device in use by the CEO sports a case that clearly includes the cut-out for the new rear layout which includes a horizontal dual-camera setup and a fingerprint scanner placed just below. Aside from this sensor placement modification, though, the new smartphone is expected to resemble last year’s Galaxy Note 8 quite closely. In fact, from the front, only a small reduction in the size of the bottom bezel will differentiate them. However, Samsung is expected to offer the new flagship in an expanded range of colors, of which some may ship with contrasting S Pens – the blue Galaxy Note 9 looks set to include a gold S Pen.

Switching the focus over to the internal specifications, the Exynos 9810 processor that is included inside this year’s Galaxy S9 series will be making a return inside the international offering, while the US will once again receive the Snapdragon 845. Coupled with either processor will be 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, although rumors have pointed towards a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for release in a limited number of markets such as China. Also, on the software side of things, Android 8.1 Oreo will ship straight out of the box with the latest version of Samsung Experience on top, while all of this looks set to be powered by a very respectable 4,000mAh battery.

In terms of pricing and availability, the Galaxy Note 9 should start at around $960 in the US, falling in line with last year’s Galaxy Note 8, and is expected to be available for pre-order towards the middle of August, followed by Shipments on the 24th.
