Samsung Galaxy Gear control app leaks, confirms support for NFC
The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is expected to be introduced on September 4th along with the Samsung Galaxy Note III. And already we are seeing leaked screenshots of the Gear Manager app. This is the app that owners of the watch will install on their phone in order to control the timepiece. One of the settings reads "Find my watch" which is obviously a tool to use when you've misplaced your watch or have had it stolen.

The screenshots also confirm that NFC will be used to pair the watch with your phone. The leak, which comes from evleaks, also appears to indicate that users will have a selection of watch designs to choose from and will also be able to install certain apps from the Samsung App Store. The model number of the watch is SM-V700, which was used by the Korean OEM when it patented a smartwatch in Korea this year.

The patent for the SM-V700 reveals that the watch will have a microphone and a speaker, a USB port and back and menu buttons. Although there has been speculation about a flexible screen on the device, the latest buzz around the water cooler is that the screen will not bend like Gumby this year, but certainly could in future models. The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is expected to sport a 2.5 inch OLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 and the Samsung Exynos 4412, the silicon that powers the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, will be under the hood.
