Samsung DeX Pad to get dual monitor support once Galaxy Tab S4 goes official

Samsung DeX Pad to get dual monitor support once Galaxy Tab S4 goes official
Samsung has big plans for its upcoming Galaxy Tab S4 tablet, which include adding support for DeX Pad. The tablet is expected to be unveiled in late August or early September, soon after the Galaxy Note 9's big reveal that's been recently confirmed.

In order to allow users to turn the Galaxy Tab S4 into a second monitor, Samsung also plans to improve the DeX Pad accessory with this specific feature, a new report claims. Dual monitor mode will be added to Samsung DeX around the same time the Galaxy Tab S4 will go official, although the information hasn't been confirmed yet.

There's one more accessory that's meant to allow Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 users to take advantage of the tablet as a second monitor – a Book Cover. The accessory that has already leaked a while ago will make it easier for users to prop the tablet for better viewing.

Since Samsung DeX Pad will be updated with the dual monitor mode feature, other Galaxy smartphones compatible with the accessory will fully support the option to be used as secondary monitors.

Looking forward to this new tablet. Hopefully they refresh the 8 inch model too and give it pen support.

Does the phone still use its own battery while docked? I wish it were like a laptop where it doesn't use battery while being plugged.

I will be much more interested if they could implement DEX UI on the Tab S4, now that would be true productive tabs like Surface and.... some extent, iPad I guess?

Yes definitely hope they have something like Lenovo's productivity mode. Completely changes the experience.

Samsung should just release their tabs series based on DeX UI instead of Samsung Experience, since tablet these day are trying to replicate what desktop could do, even Apple know that so they try to make iOS on iPad as close to desktop as possible. DeX is a good concept just like continuum, but in real world it still troublesome to bring along a keyboard or a mouse and not to mention, a proper monitor that you could connected. If Samsung could implement DeX on Tab series, it might be pose a challenge to iPad and certain degree, Chromebook.

Yea exactly, or at the very least include an option that lets you turn such a Ui on. I can understand them trying to market for the simple people out there, but at the end of the day, tablets these days, specially Android ones (well if someone bothers to make a SD845 tablet LOL) are insanely powerful and productive for their battery life, lightness and foot print. Why Google doesn't make a $500 powerhouse of a tablet with a keyboard dock, pen support and a desktop grade Ui is beyond me. Most of the basic stuff like writing, surfing the web, viewing documents, I would love to move to a Android tab with a dock. Sucks we gotta wait for OEM's to pull such a thing. Apple iPads are awesome, but iOS isn't as open and they are way too expensive.

I hope the tab 4 is a landscape design, don't like portrait tablets.

It's more landscape than the 3, but not full 16:9. You can tell from the screen resolution, works out to be 16:10. The 3 was 4:3.
