Report: Apple replaces Xiaomi as the leading smartphone producer in China
Research firm Canalys released a report today stating that the popularity of the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus in China, has made Apple the top smartphone manufacturer in the country. By increasing the size of the screen, and adding a phablet to its line-up, Apple has been able to go after Chinese Android manufacturers who produce large-screened Android handsets. The iPhone 6 is equipped with a 4.7-inch screen while the iPhone 6 Plus carries a 5.5-inch screen.

Riding the large-screen and 4G LTE trend in the country, Apple now is the top smartphone producer based on the number of units shipped, followed by Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei. What makes this an amazing achievement is that the price Apple charges for its phones is extremely high when compared to companies like Xiaomi.

Samsung, which had been on top of the Chinese smartphone charts, relinquished that spot to Xiaomi during last year's second quarter. The company is now struggling as Apple gains momentum. But Xiaomi is going to be a tough competitor for Apple in future quarters.. The company recently conducted a successful flash sale of its new Xiaomi Mi Note. And the drool-worthy Xiaomi Mi Note Pro offers a 5.7-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU and 4GB of RAM.

Because only Apple can use IOS. If Sammy had exclusive rights to Android, I'm sure the tables would turn.

Normally, I wouldn't call anyone anyone an idiot, but you are very close to that region. Status symbol? You buy phone for a status symbol? really?? That's cheap and gross at the same time.

You got that right, no one can replace Apple, because there are more poor and low labor and stupid people in the world than the smart one. 80 percent of the people are within this bracket and these people accounted 70 percent of the Iphone market.

How is apple a status symbol? If that's true, 13 year olds have been doing really well for themselves the last few years. Also it never ceases to amaze me how you people still don't get that I phones are just as expensive as any other major flagship, or even cheaper. 16gb iphone 6 =$649, Galaxy S5 = $649

Samsung, Sony etc have all cheaper models. Apple in Eastern Europe and Eastern countries is indeed STATUS symbol. In my country average sallary is, like, 400 euros, and iPhone cost around 1000 euros.

That just proved my point. Thank you. Why would 13 year olds care what phone they have? Adolescents usually only care about how they are seen (Its a big thing when you're 13) Plus, those 13 year olds aren't buying these phones with their own money.

The problem is that Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, HTC...is incapable of making their own OS and have to depend on Google for android. So those android phone makers can never compete with Apple.

Emm Thats not true. Samsung have more than one OS. And if im not totally incorrect, then sony (Sony Ericsson) was one of the companies behind symbian. So get your facts rigt! !!!!!

Come on really?!?!? Android manufacturer's can come up with their own OS. They want the easy route! They can control their destiny, just like Apple.

Realize that Samsung and all Android manufacturer's should do their own R&D and create their own OS then. Maybe their tables will turn. Based on Tizen the branding of their own OS seems lackluster at best.

Apple does not manufacture phones. They design and distribute.. Foxconn manufacturers the phone. Try again

Haha I don't even like apple, but only reason android can compete is the fact that there's so many android phones out there.

This should only make Android fans happy. Why? Well I should assume that all Android OEMs will start putting actual useful features that will get iOS users attention and not fill a phone with gimmicks that 75% percent of normal users won't need. Android people talk about how the Note is the best phablet out there, and maybe it is but half the crap on there are gimmicks and Android fans can't deny it. Apple being on top only creates better compittive results.

Everybody should buy an iPhone that way when you need the battery replaced you can pay Apple $79.00 to do that. If you want to expand your memory you're stuck whatever is in the phone. If you want apps you can pay Apple for those too. HOWEVER ! If you buy most Androids you can replace your own battery in about 2 minutes and you can purchase them on eBay or Amazon dirt cheap. The same goes for memory, you can buy that reasonably cheap as well and upgrade it to whatever the maximum of your phone is. Apps, there are more free ones available than you will ever use. Finally, do your research and prove it to yourself.

I don't recommend people to buy cheap battery and microSD card. Get those from reliable sources instead. Ebay is filled with lousy OEM battery that look like original. Some even in original packing. Bad battery leads to bad user experience.

Again you have a cheap man's mentality. What's the likelihood that you have extra batteries sitting around, swapping them in and out. Waste of time. Memory. Last I checked not many people can fill 64GB. 128GB that I have is plenty. Just hilarious.
