I agree w/you Apple is not versatile, but cases for iphones usually are really cool-looking.

I used my 1 week T-mobile trial iPhone 5s and I have to say that in my opinion it was a total disappointment. You're welcome to love it, but 'versatile' is about the last thing i would ever call it. It was very 'fast', to frustrate us, and a 'powerful' incentive to stay away.
Screen size pre iP6 is the biggest issue, but web browsing, app interface, app store, and home screen were really irritating.

As for the article, kudos on finding ways to stand out without an ugly case. Dropping $1k to look like 50% of the population or covering it up with a cheap case really defeat the purpose.
