One upping the Nex: OPPO Find X may have the highest screen to body ratio we've ever seen

The OPPO Find X is due to be formally announced on June 19 in Paris and, as we have been reporting over the past couple weeks, it could be an impressive device. The phone already has a promotional page live on the OPPO Netherlands, signalling that the Find X could help OPPO break into the European market.

OPPO teased us by hinting at the Find X's screen to body ratio. And thanks to some clever measuring by Ben Geskin, OPPO's secret may be out ahead of time. Geskin announced via Twitter that the Find X would carry a screen to body ratio of 93.8%! That would make it the most bezel-less phone that we have ever seen. OPPO is able to achieve such a high number by opting to skip the notch party. Where is the front facing camera then? Perhaps OPPO will take a leaf from Vivo's book and have it hidden inside the phone, appearing only when needed.

Whatever tricks OPPO pulls off, we will soon have all the details and will keep you updated.

Maybe embedded under the screen the camara will be

While technically it's possible to turn of the necessary OLEDs and Samsung has transparent OLED screens, I doubt the screen itself won't influence the quality of the camera.

The screen isn't the issue, it's hiding the digitizer where it becomes troublesome

Only when MicroLED screens are used will that become a likely solution. Considering we're looking at 2020 at least for the first smartphone with a MicroLED screen, I wouldn't count on it.

Where's the front camera, eh? And... Where's the notch? I'm not complaining; I'm just... Positively 'dumbfounded' by this render! Astonished, in simpler words. Why I always use fancy words like Alan Harper from 2.5 Men? Oh well, G'Day!

The same place where they are in Vivo Nex. Chinese companies under BBK are leading the innovation in smartphones this year.

Serious question. Who here would actually miss the selfie cam? I know I only use it once in a blue moon so would happily have a phone without one if it meant no notch and no mechanical camera pop-up.

Vast majority of people would miss it. Just because few of us on tech sites don't use it, doesn't mean that we represent the whole base of smartphone users.

I don’t, because I don’t even use

I only use my s9 front cam last... I forgot the last time I used it. I don't take selfies so zero front cam phone is ok to me.

I never take selfie, or Snapchat with those puppy filters - couldn’t care less about that stuff, but... I now FaceTime just as much as I do voice calls. I’m not giving up my front camera or face unlock/Face ID.

Front facing cam is necessary for FaceTime.

This thing is turning out even more Impressive than Oppo's sister brand Vivo. 5x lossless zoom, great dual rear cameras, 3700-4000 mAh rumoured battery, s845, 8gb ram, 265gb storage, bezeless front, highest ever body to screen ratio, no notch, almost non existent chin(other phones have similarly sized side bezels

What's with PA comments section ? Can't even post full one sometimes. Automatically trims it. Continued - super VOOC charging (2500 mAh battery charged in 15 minutes), led notification light across the bottom. This thing is turning out to be just absolutely AMAZING ! Only if Oppo and Vivo offered their phones with better software, preferably stockish android. Now i hope as per tradition OnePlus 6T or 7 is based on this Oppo Find X. That would be stunning.

Then you remember their android has much more modifications than Samsung. They dont care about updates. No warranty out of China

6.2% is for all-around slim bezels.. They'll need curved edge to go 95%++

Oppo, oneplus and vivo came from the same mother company so it's no surprise if find x will have the same front camera as vivo nex.

I bet you have to be careful handling it because of accidental touches. Fashion at the sake of utility.

Accidentals touches is problem with side bezels not top or bottom bezel.

If you are using your phone in the car for navigation, or have it sitting down watching a video, how do you expect to pick it up without touching screen? Also, if you have to reach high in the screen, your palm will touch it.

You touch the side not bezels.

it's bad on my S8. this one would be a nightmare, virtually bezels.

S8 or S9 is specially bad because it's the only phones with curved screen yet people learn to deal with it. Most other OEM still left small side bezel it's really not a problem.
