OnePlus One price cut coming on June 1st?
A teaser produced by OnePlus earlier this week hinted that a big announcement was coming from the manufacturer. The teaser showed an image of the OnePlus One with an eraser and a pencil, and the words "Time To Change" on the bottom. Along with sources indicating that an announcement is coming from the OnePlus camp on June 1st, this made it appear as though we would be seeing the OnePlus 2 unveiled next Tuesday.

But the latest buzz around the water cooler has OnePlus announcing a price cut for the OnePlus One on that date. The 64GB Sandstone Black model will be priced at $298 USD while the 16GB Silk White variant will cost $248 USD. That is a $50 price cut for both models. Pricing is rumored to be cut everywhere but in India. There, prices are expected to remain the same. In India, the 64GB model will cost you the equivalent of $345 USD and the 16GB version is priced at the equivalent of $298 USD.

The teaser still seems to indicate that we will soon see the OnePlus 2 introduced. Additionally, we might have seen the specs of the sequel recently show up on a benchmark test. If so, the sequel will feature a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM should be inside. There is also talk of a fingerprint scanner for the phone, and a price tag in the neighborhood of $400. The pricing of the sequel could explain why we are expected to see a $50 price cut on the current model first.

Thanks for the tip!
