OnePlus One price cut coming on June 1st?

OnePlus One price cut coming on June 1st?
A teaser produced by OnePlus earlier this week hinted that a big announcement was coming from the manufacturer. The teaser showed an image of the OnePlus One with an eraser and a pencil, and the words "Time To Change" on the bottom. Along with sources indicating that an announcement is coming from the OnePlus camp on June 1st, this made it appear as though we would be seeing the OnePlus 2 unveiled next Tuesday.

But the latest buzz around the water cooler has OnePlus announcing a price cut for the OnePlus One on that date. The 64GB Sandstone Black model will be priced at $298 USD while the 16GB Silk White variant will cost $248 USD. That is a $50 price cut for both models. Pricing is rumored to be cut everywhere but in India. There, prices are expected to remain the same. In India, the 64GB model will cost you the equivalent of $345 USD and the 16GB version is priced at the equivalent of $298 USD.

The teaser still seems to indicate that we will soon see the OnePlus 2 introduced. Additionally, we might have seen the specs of the sequel recently show up on a benchmark test. If so, the sequel will feature a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM should be inside. There is also talk of a fingerprint scanner for the phone, and a price tag in the neighborhood of $400. The pricing of the sequel could explain why we are expected to see a $50 price cut on the current model first.

Thanks for the tip!

That's very lame. Just cut the price... Don't have a buildup like this where everyone expects a sequel. Lame as hell. Typical for OnePlus...

Good point. However, those that were planning on buying it in the next 3 days will appreciate the news, sure they'd rather wait until the 1st now.

Which nearly every single bit of it can be uninstalled, and that which can't be uninstalled can be disabled.

Can't find it new in the US for $300 dollars off contract. Only shot at that price is to go online and buy it used from someone.

That would be great if so. I've been looking at the Zenfone 2 (2GB RAM model) but the ASUS skin is preventing me from pulling the trigger. But a cheaper OnePlus One with all the access to custom ROMs it has? Just take my money already.

Yes, the number of ROM available for the phone is crazy. It is on par with nexus phones.

What did the buyers in India do that there is no price cut? These jokers don't treat us fairly. Every mobile is always priced higher than the rest of the world in spite of the simple fact that India is the fastest growing country for mobiles and technology. Microsoft decides to sell their 5xx crap mobiles for $ 25 - 50 in USA where people have the money to buy better mobiles but dont buy any Windows mobiles. And in India they are priced higher than similarly configured android mobiles.

Yeah same as Apple slept with all the Carriers in US. They sell iPhone for $650 Plus in US & in 3rd world countries, its freaking $1000 Plus. What you have to say about this. Now don't tell me exchange rates difference & all, I am an Investment Banker and better know how much it should be. Here in India, It should be $650(Base price) + $110 taxes + $5 Shipping charges(subjective). Which makes it $765 but it sells it for $1000 plus. What's even more frustrating is that, a 128Gb iPhone 6 costs freaking $320 more than 16Gb model where as in US its just $200. Why Apple why? Don't sleep so much with those carriers.

There has to be a very lame reason for not cutting the price in India.. Where people can get a galaxy s5 for $365 and a s4 for $254 This is outrageous !

Wtf? Why not in India b!tches? If you cut down the prices, you could sell more than what you looking to sell in other countries. Understood? One plus dumb or dumb plus one.
