New orders of the Droid Incredible and DROID X not to ship until August

New orders of the Droid Incredible and DROID X not to ship until August
We had our fingers (and toes) crossed that there would be plenty of inventory of the Motorola DROID X MB810 to go around, but it appears that people who are frustrated with their HTC Droid Incredible delays are changing their order over to the new DROID X. So what has this done? Delayed the DROID X too. In fact, both the HTC Droid Incredible and Motorola DROID X are now showing a shipping date of August 3rd for on-line orders. Of course you might be able to find one sooner by staking out your local Verizon store, as new shipments are expected to come in several times a week. So are you still planing on buying the Motorola DROID X or HTC Droid Incredible, or just wait for the Motorola DROID 2 that is expected out the end of August?

I think this is ridiculous. If i'm gonna pay this much for a phone i want it now. Not 3 weeks from now. I wonder if they're doing this so some people will just compromise and get the droid so they won't have a bunch of them when the successor comes out.

I dont know who gave you a -1 but i agree. People want their stuff now! not weeks later. I ordered the Droid X on the second day it was out. I have to wait a week (which im ok with this time since im on vacation) but normally I would not be ok with it. They need to figure out how to make enough phones before they release them.

Forever....I bought my phone on the first day - the CAPTIVATE - thanks to the iSHEEP the best phone on AT&Ts network as well as plenty of others are easily available, and stores only get 9 or so phones for the new models, usually, and then get 2 or 3 cases, depending on market and location.

Captivate? Is it nice? Not sure about Samsung even if it is runnin Android. Better than the Evo or X would you say?

Haven't tried the X.... but the Captivate rocks. AT&T has needed a device like this. Though it IS a Samsung, I would have to say this is the finest from Samsung I have ever seen. The phone is ridiculously fast. I must say, as hard as it is to say, I am converted to Android.

Verizon made a mistake they should have launched the droid x, samsung Fascinate, and Droid 2 at the same time. Back orders would be much less of a problem

It's called SUPPLY and DEMAND you big dummy. They don't know how much to supply for a phone that has never had anydemand because it has never been released. The I phone sold around 3 millions units opening weekend and still got pushed back, if you wanted the phone now you should has went in early and preordered it early from best buy or some shmuck for customer service who didn't know any better, or camped infront of a store like some of the other people who wanted it now . SO, stop boo whooing and be patient it will make the phone that much better when you get it. It's like tyelling someone you have a product that you want to sell but you want to put and extra million copies of it out and noone has ever used it before a company would laugh at you and say bring the number down because if it turned to be a flop nobody looses their ass in the process. Is called motorola was trying to be smart about it and unfortunatly they shot a bit low they will get there stock up and you will have the phone soon. WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Exactly, as soon as best buy offered the preorder of the droid x, i did it. I knew this was going to happen. With all the hype and how big and powerful this phone is, i knew it was going to be sold out just like that. Im sorry if someone didn't get their phone but that's just how it is, preorder it or else risk not getting it.

@lovebuzz & RORYREVOLUTION - Don't waste your time...some people don't have common sense in the consumer world. They're like little kids, whinin for a phone instead of exercisin some patience like a grown up and waiting. They feel like when they want to get somethin that they are the only ones that want it and it should be there for them waiting with no problems. These ppl knew when they ordered the phone that it was a wait...but pretend to be so disgruntled AFTER they placed their orders...i don't get it.

You'd think that if the droid incredible, evo, and iphone all sold out, that people would expect the droid x to as well. Always plan ahead to avoid problems

Really supply n demand Someone just took a high school class on the subject the increditable has been on a 3 or 4 week back order since june Ppl dont want to wait weeks for a phone or anything vz att moto htc should have some idea about how many could sell and have the supply to meet demand

This is a high-class problem of sorts for VZW, Motorola and HTC, but at the same time, who did their market research? Because they woefully underestimated demand and certainly weren't tooled up to meet it. Three weeks isn't just a supply issue, it's a manufacturing issue. This is a sign of where certain companies have cut back too much and weren't able to be ready for spikes in demand.

The HTC is backordered due to the unavailibility of the AMOLED screens from Samsung. It's difficult to manufacture a phone when the supplier of a mojor component fails you. HTC should look at their relationship with Samsung and maybe find a better more reliable supplier. However the AMOLED is really nice.

I don't disagree with your point at all. However, when manufacturers allow themselves to have their images impacted from supplier shortages like this, it creates enough blame for all. Competent market research would have revealed that these devices would fly out the door. At some point, you have to know where the delta is in having too many back-ordered. Given that, VZW either knew going in that they were just going to have to eat it, or they didn't communicate the anticipated demand to HTC (and possibly Motorola). Even worse in this though is Moto, after the runaway success with the Droid, they should have been tooled up and ready to rock with the X. If we see similar delays with the Droid 2, then you know Moto cut itself too deep in this recession. It further hurts their bottom line, and will hurt their development of future products, especially if VZW raises an eye-brow at future products.

OK. Hold up. I understand how it works but I'm just saying that there is no way that they didn't know the Droid X was gonna be HUGE. If so, then they wouldn't have had a midnight opening for it. I have plenty of common sense. Like wtf? Why is everyone so hateful on this site. It's about cell phones for god sake! Not religion or politics! And supply and demand is one thing but having to wait a month for a phone to be delivered is a bit ridiculous. And I'm not even saying i want the X because i don't (not that it isn't an awesome phone). And yes i knew that it would have been sold out too very quickly! And yes I'm speaking like a true American for that i am.

ok so i bought my droid x online, the day after it sold out. the date then said 7/27 on the website. while ordering it, i was given a walkthrough by a verizon clerk as i was buying it. he said that the phone was going to be shipped 7/23. so since i bought it before it said 8/3, will mine come earlier!?

WOW!!! Just wait for the damn phone, i'm sure the phone that you already have will do you plenty well for 1-2, maybe even three weeks until you get your new device. My girlfriend ordered the Incredible two weeks ago and we are going to get it on August 3rd with out any complaint. It's not a need it is a desire so just be patient.
