New leak claims Nexus 5 is coming to Sprint

New leak claims Nexus 5 is coming to Sprint
One of the earlier leaks that we saw on the Nexus 5 was the FCC filing, which actually came in two varieties. There was a CDMA model that passed through the FCC, which we assumed would be a Sprint variant of the device. We assumed Sprint, because Google doesn't seem to trust Verizon with Nexus devices anymore, and Sprint has been a good Nexus partner in the past.

Now, uber-leaker @evleaks is putting it out there that the Nexus 5 will indeed be coming to Sprint; and, to sweeten the pot a bit, @evleaks has added in another image of the upcoming device. Unfortunately, the image is really just a different perspective on the images we've already seen and doesn't exactly add anything new to the info pool.

There are some indications that we'll be getting more info on the Nexus 5 during today's "A Morning with Google+" event, but we'll have to see about that. @evleaks was also the source that claimed the Nexus 5 would be released this Friday, November 1st, so if that is true, Google is running low on time before announcing the device.

Seriously, Verizon's phone lineup sucks or they get phones that were great when they came out.

Sorry to disappoint you... But Verizon doesn't wants it... They want to molest Nexus devices too like they usually do to any other Android phone and obviously Google is NOT at all ready...

...not until VERIZON sticks a direct NSA-bug on it...then they'll release it 9 months later...

Not going to happen as much as I wish it would. This would allow an easy way for people to keep their unlimited, and Verizon would have no part in allowing that to happen!

It shouldn't be hard to release a Nexus device with Verizon's hardware bands and sell it on the Google Play Store, then just walk over to the nearest corporate Verizon store and shove a VZW 4G LTE sim card in and call it a day.

Ha! The Nexus 7 LTE for Verizon was a disaster. You still can't activate a new SIM in the Nexus 7 as Verizon has not approved it yet. For a phone you would also need the CDMA activation which is completely separate from the SIM and requires proprietary software from Verizon to access those CDMA frequencies. It would be illegal to sell a Nexus device that runs on CDMA (required for voice on Verizon) in the play store without Verizon's authorization. So no only is it hard, it's nearly impossible and illegal.

We will have to wait until Verizon kills it's CDMA network and launches VoLTE before we get another Verizon-compatible Nexus. Even then, it will probably be delayed since Google will have to wait for Verizon's certification, but at least we'll finally have a pure stock Android device with instant updates on Verizon. That will probably be late 2014-2015 though.

It sucks but I get it, Google isn't going to put up with Verizon castrating their Nexus line and trying to call the shots.

Verizon is a bad carrier for a Nexus phone. I have had the Galaxy Nexus since it was first launched in Dec 2011. Verizon delayed the initial launch to allow extra time to promote the just released Droid Razr. Then we had to wait months for each update, well after Google had pushed it out to everyone else.

Agreed but take it one step further, ALL PHONES should be available! Wishful thinking on our part though.

How about a date that isn't 6 months down the road? That would be something to excite me.

Could KitKat or the Nexus 5 be announced today? Just this morning, KitKat posted a picture on their twitter page with 2 KitKat bars shaped as a "T" for time out. One could make the assumption that the "T" also represents today; perhaps it is interesting to note that today is the 1-year anniversary since the Nexus 4 announcement. Also today, KitKat uploaded a promo Android 4.4 video to YouTube with an Android eating the last bar; does this represent 0 more days? I'm hopeful for an announcement today in the evening as that is what I thought yesterday's picture posted by KitKat was hinting... (when night touches day, one more day) I think I'm going crazy, haha.

Sadly no Nexus 5 announcement today. The announcement is imminent as there are so many leaks happening almost every day now. I'ts also the anniversary of the unveiling of the Nexus 4. Hopefully the Nexus 5 won't have the same supply issues. C'MON GOOGLE! the anticipation is killing me!

More leaked info we knew 2 months ago! Leak something we dont know, like how sprint is going to price this phone On Contract. I really dont see them just selling this for the $349 off contract since they always want people to extend their commitment. The 5c is $100 and it retails for $200 more than this. Sell it for $50 sprint. Do it... Do it...

One more phone that will drop calls and have great 3G data speeds added to Sprints HORRIBLE network. Thank God for T-Mobile we always get the best devices.

Sprint has much greater coverage than T-Mobile and has always had solid voice coverage that blows TMO out of the water and is on par with AT&T. Sprint's issues were with data speeds but that has largely changed in the majority of the country. Sprint has most major markets covered with LTE and is working on the rest.

Yeah, I don't know what that guy is talking about. I have no issues with their voice coverage. Have signal in my area in more places than my friends with AT&T do, and roam on Verizon. Not to mention that LTE is in my area and is rolling out at a pretty good pace, and will be joined by LTE on 800 and 2500 soon. I'm happy I switched to Sprint from VZW, screw the baby bells and their anti-consumer practices.

I don't know what he's talking about either. I have both Verizon (personal) and Sprint (work) and they are both great. I spend most of my time traveling for work and the new upgraded Sprint network is awesome. I get LTE in every major metro market and many smaller markets, the rest of the markets are currently being upgraded so I get a combination of upgraded 3G and LTE there. Sprint works just fine and has a ton more coverage than T-Mobile. The data speeds have gotten much better so it's not even a comparison. At this point, Verizon is ahead, AT&T and Sprint are about on par coverage wise, and T-Mobile is way behind in coverage. The good thing about TMO is the new cheaper plans with int'l data and hotspot included. If they had better coverage and I would consider them.
