New Apple iPhone with 8MP camera could be launched in August
Despite previous talk that the next Apple iPhone will launch just before the 2011 holiday season, Macotakara is reporting that they have been told by an anonymous source that Apple will launch the next version of its iconic touchscreen device in late July or August. Unlike previous reports, this rumored version of the iPhone will not have a 4 inch screen and in fact, will keep the same form factor as the Apple iPhone 4.

One change will be internal; the new iPhone will not have a SIM card and will feature both a GSM and a CDMA radio allowing the same unit to be used for both AT&T and Verizon, and with 3-4 antennas, it will be a world phone. In addition, the new version of the iPhone will sport an 8MP camera in the back and be powered by an ARM Cortex A9 processor, using a Qualcomm chipset. The report says that it is not yet known if the processor will be single-core or dual-core.

The next major update to the Apple iPhone, according to the story, will be the iPhone 6 which will launch in the Spring of 2012. That dove tails with an earlier story that we reported, hinting at a Apple iPhone 6 to be launched next Spring, equipped with low-temperature poly-silicon LCD displays made by Sharp, for a thinner and lighter design.
