Motorola announces winner of its Moto 360 watch face design contest
Back at the end of May, Motorola kicked off a contest that asked participants to design an original watch face for its upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch. Based on Google's wearables-focused Android Wear platform, the Moto 360 was finally made official yesterday during Google I/O.

Sporting a circular design instead of the standard rectangle/square that rivals have pretty much exclusively pursued, the Moto 360 was, from the get-go, a pretty interesting smartwatch. This allowed designers to create some incredibly attractive watch faces, but only 10 were allowed to the finals. Well, Motorola has finally picked the design it likes most, and we're certainly very supportive of its choice -- the winning face is definitely quite attractive.

From what we saw yesterday, the Moto 360 does not sport that particular watch face (not that this is surprising, considering the timing). That, however, could easily change in the near future, as Motorola's rules strictly state that it will retain the right to use (or not) all submitted designs. That's a pretty clever approach, as the company easily saved itself a small fortune in design work. According to Motorola, some 1,300 designs were submitted, but it's one David Pascual who's getting his hands on an early version of the Moto 360. Congratulations!

The perfect winner. Congrats!!! A very minimalistic watch face which displays most of all things superbly with right colors.

Funny, just saw the 10 candidates, and immediately wrote this one off as the most ordinary/boring... Still, I see the functionality, but it's certainly the one that says "hey, look at me!" the least...

It shows everything that you need in a way that is not too complicated. What you want in a smartwatch is easy, glanceable information...

Not bad, if only chronograph dials were in there too.

Does anyone know where to get one of these when they do come out. Will there be brick and mortar stores or online order only? And what about extra wrist bands and accessories?

Motorola's online store for certain, and carriers possibly. The only downfall for them is they won't be able to charge a service that goes with it, like a data package.

Yes. I was hoping for that one. That one was the most stylish design to me...
