Motorola BACKFLIP now available from AT&T
AT&T is now offering its customers an Android powered device for the first time. The Motorola BACKFLIP, with its unique form factor, can be purchased for $99 after a mail-in rebate and your signature on a two year contract. The handset features a 3.1 inch WVGA touchscreen display and will start life with Android 1.5 which will be upgraded over time to 2.1. As you have seen in a few videos, the unit flips to close with the QWERTY keyboard and the display facing outward. On board is the MOTOBLUR UI which pushes all of your social networking information to the home page. A microSD slot can expand memory to 32GB so you can keep more of those great pictures you take with the phone's 5MP camera. The BACKFLIP is equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack, Quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and Tri-band 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz). AT&T customers have been demanding an Android phone, and now that their carrier has one to offer, they can start doing backflips.
