Last week, a high resolution image of the Moto Z2 Play was discovered, along with an advertisement indicating that the device will be unveiled on June 1st. Even before the phone has been made official, there are some who are disappointed with Lenovo's decision to use a 3000mAh battery on the device. That is a 15% decline from the 3510mAh cell used on the original Moto Z Play. The Snapdragon 626 chipset replaces the Snapdragon 625 that powered the Moto Z Play, and should be just as miserly with battery consumption. Despite the lower capacity battery, the Moto Z2 Play should still provide outstanding battery life for its users.

Today, pictures of the Moto Z2 Play retail box leaked, with its bright red color standing out. The Moto Snaps that are mentioned on the front of the box is Spanish for Moto Mods, indicating that Moto's modular accessories are coming back for a second year. On the side of the box is Lenovo branding. Inside the box, a plastic display cover shows that the device features a 5.5-inch screen, carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. A fingerprint scanner is embedded inside a redesigned oval-shaped home button, and a 12MP camera is on back. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage.

Inside the box is the Turbo Charger for rapid charging of the battery, the USB to Micro USB cable, and earphones. Click on the slideshow to see pictures of the box along with a trio of images that show off the phone itself. We should know a lot more about the Moto Z2 Play this coming Thursday, including final specs, pricing and availability. Circle the date on your calendar and check in often.

An unboxing video (not in English) has been discovered on YouTube. Check it out by clicking the video at the top of the story.
